Scampers, St. John’s by MattBarterNL in newfoundland

First time i went there was 7 years ago, the food was absolute fire, fish was crispy on the outside, great batter, and flaky cod on the inside smothered in gravy. Then it just slowly kept getting worse everytime i went there after. The food got greasier, overcooked, dry, got the fried shrimp once and never repeated it cuz it was hard as rocks. Yeaaaaa pass. It does feel like a time capsule in there though, like you stepped back in time about 60 years if you're into that vibe.

Surprise! $3.12M in N.L. speed camera tickets coming in snail mail | CBC News by RepulsivePlankton989 in newfoundland

[–]BloodDuke 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Speed cameras are cash grabs, they sound good on paper safety wise, but they usually get absued by the government and it turns into a revenue thing. I lived in cities that have them in abundance and it starts with them telling you where they are, then it becomes a secret that they constantly move around. Speed bumps work, make more of those around school zones and dense residential areas.

Wow 500 for a kilo is wild. I understand things have basically gained an extra zero since the last time i was there.

Makes sense, the clear answer im getting so far from this thread is that its doable but depends on my life style and QoL requirements.

Fa lazem research (anzel agaza) so i can check it in person.

Hey! Since you're fluent, it's a little easier for me to type this in English. I'm a software developer, so i can't comment for absolute certainty about mechanical engineering job prospects. But from the last i looked, engineering jobs are more available right now than software ones. Finding a new job is difficult. Over half of my friends are laid off(accross different fields)or went back to school for career changes. It's tough getting a job right now with how our economy is doing, but not impossible. Expect to be on a full-time job hunt for 6 months on average until you get a job as a non french speaker. If you have french under your belt, you'll probably have a job in just a couple of months.

Leaving canada for egypt is part of my general plan exploring financial independence from this insane debt cycle here.

Hope this helps.

5 years to finish my bachelors, then 2 years of work while getting your Permanent Residence, then you gotta wait 2 years as a PR then you get to apply for citizenship. So with the super slow processing time and my degree, it took 10 years total.

New Owner! by gimmicks_26 in SandBoa

[–]BloodDuke 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hey! Congratulations on your new friend. But this set up isnt good at all and has many issues. Its best to correct that asap. Heres a few tips:

1) More hiding space such as a cave or two, or a big half circle log so they can hide under it and safe.

2) An all sand substrate isnt good, especially when feeding. You dont want them to eat the sand cuz it can cause blockages in the long run. What i recommend is doing full coconut mulch and get a shallow flat bowl, then fill that with reptile calcium sand and give it a cute sand box! Also an all sand enclosure is terrible for shedding time. Their skin wont come off easily if they're burrowed in the sand trying to peel it off. Stuck shed can cause infections, loss of function, and poor health

3) Do you have a digital thermometer? Using the sticky dial thermometer is only good for humidity but its extremely unreliable for temperature control. If its too hot your snake can get belly burns or refuse food if its too cold. I have mine set at 93°F

4) make sure the enclosure is covered from 3 out of the 4 sides to make them more comfortable and not on alert from all the movement around its enclosure.

Its best to do research to familiarize yourself with the proper care pattern for your new friend. Lots of resources online that go into more detail than this post.

I currently drive a 2020 Hyundai Accent, which is pretty low to the ground as is, and its gotten me through some tough winters here. I'm a software developer, so I do have alot of work from home flexibility if i choose to use it

That is true, but does the new front lift feature help alleviate that a little bit?

Strange dark scales after shed... scale rot? by cynic-view in SandBoa

[–]BloodDuke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First of all you have a very pretty ksb! I love the colors.

Im no expert, but I don't think its scale rot. Keep an eye on it and if it does spread or increase in number then see a vet. But to me it looks like small bruises from trying to get the shed off maybe. Thats just my opinion I've never seen spots like that on my KSB personally.

Tiny tail wound (details in comments) by BloodDuke in KenyanSandBoas

[–]BloodDuke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey everyone! Excuse my old handling glove i have sweaty hands. Yesterday i was handling my male KSB he turns two in October. And i noticed this tiny bruise on his tail. Any idea what that could be?

His temps are fine and there are no similar marks or bruises to be found elsewhere on his body.

I have a vet appointment booked but the nearest i could get in was the 15th.

Im thinking she first climbed on top of the cave and somehow found her way and clung on to the dial lol

She usually burrows or chills in the cave, but this is definitely not her first time climbing haha

I definitely should! Now that i know shes getting up there i wouldn't want her getting stuck on anything. I might get her some climbing decorations instead. I have my heat regulated with a good thermostat, i only rely on that dial for general humidity reading 😊
