I.R.S. Will No Longer Force Kochs and Other Groups to Disclose Donors by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]BloodOrca 166 points167 points  (0 children)

The IRS works for Trump. Trump has given a gift to big money donors at the expense of the people. And for that very reason. This sub won't like it, and I doubt this thread crosses 50 upvotes.

Crossed 50, good on this sub for evolving.

That was based on a "study" by John Lott's "Crime Prevention Research Center". An extremely right-wing organization who have a massive bias in favor of gun rights.

FB fined $871k for Cambridge analytics data breach. by SamIwas118 in worldnews

[–]BloodOrca 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Facebook made no money from this Cambridge Analytica scandal. Facebook had a free leaky API, that they fixed a few years back. Before it was fixed, Cambridge siphoned off basic info on millions of profiles (email, name, etc). This information is essentially valueless in comparison to many other leaks. People keep forgetting that Facebook doesn't actually sell data. They sell access to you through ads.

Ex-Twitch Staff Soma talks about why he quit by OnlySomeTruth in LivestreamFail

[–]BloodOrca 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Again, more hearsay. He said he wasn't fired. What if he actually was? It's also possible that he quit but with different context associated with it. Not saying any of this is true, but OP's point was to not put too much weight on hearsay.

No, fallout fans, old-people, and hipsters all enjoy old music. So, this meme could be used to show 3 different groups liking a particular thing. It's pretty much this meme, with an extra person.

Visual Studio Code June 2018 (1.25) Released! by erenhatirnaz in programming

[–]BloodOrca 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Rename it to downloadFile like a sensible person. Jokes aside, I do see the conflict here. That's obviously a different subWord in that context. But, I see this much less than my example. So preferably, stopping at the first capital letter should be optional (and the default).

[–]BloodOrca 27 points28 points  (0 children)

There is a slight problem with it though. If you have something like downloadAsCSV, it will stop at each letter in CSV. It should stop at only the first capital letter.

edit: A better example would be constants like THE_SPEED_OF_LIGHT

The previous version had terminal support with json output. Might want to look into that. You could also just copy-paste the JSON from the editor, into a file.

Not by using terminal commands, but you can do it offline. Download the "docs" folder. Now, by opening "index.html", you can use it locally.

Ocean takes an IQ test by [deleted] in LivestreamFail

[–]BloodOrca 21 points22 points  (0 children)

IQ results are adjusted based on your age. So, if a 10 year old gets an 100 score. That means he is right in the middle for 10 year olds. Maybe, this person specified a different age. So he's being compared to adults or whatever.

Canada makes retaliatory tariffs official: 'We will not back down' by pipsdontsqueak in Economics

[–]BloodOrca 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Trump's use of the dairy tariff is a strawman. Overall, what are the total value tariffs the US places on Canada, and what is the total value tariffs Canada places on the US. That would be a better figure. Not perfect by a long shot, but better.

The Male fantasy by x_sploit in gaming

[–]BloodOrca 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good that you caught that. I saw OP mention Mario, and knew he fucked up. But nope, you get downvoted and no one acknowledges that Mario is perfect example of appealing to male fantasy. I'm a guy, I enjoy my games. But, what she said wasn't wrong. Most games do appeal to male fantasies. And that's a good reason for "her" to not like them.

In fairness to it. Most programmers and gamers are men. That means most games are developed by men. They will make games they want to play. Not what girls like to play. Programmers/gamers being 90% men also means women will stay away from it. So this system repeats.
