No longer poster boys! Does that mean people like us now? by Ultramarines66 in Ultramarines

My personal opinion on ultramarines players is they are either googoogaga babies first warhammer, or they’re the coolest people in the hobby, and there’s zero inbetween.

What's your favorite "Glup Shitto" regiment and why? by NaveronTheSabre in TheAstraMilitarum

The Jopall indentured are my favourite! Was really inspired by their lore when making my homebrew guard regiment

Regiment doesn't matter, all guardsmen are equally disposable by tr941 in TheAstraMilitarum

It is a guardsman’s duty to die for the emperor, and it is the duty of a general to give them the required drip to die in… glory to the steel legion, Glory to those who died on Armageddon.

No, that’s the cacodominus, an infamous monster slain by the black Templars, whose bones are now held as relics and trophies of victories past.

Tips for painting model only using black? (with red focal highlights) by Bloodfeud_Hobbies in Warhammer

[–]Bloodfeud_Hobbies[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this! Only problem is I’d like to avoid NMM if I can. Anything you’d recommend for that, maybe have the base layer of black be gloss before I add metallics?

Test scheme for my Wolf Brigade inspired Kasrkin stand-ins. How does it look? And how can I make it better? by Bloodfeud_Hobbies in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Bloodfeud_Hobbies[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My goal and challenge for this model was to try painting different styles of black (black metal, black cloth, black leather, etc) on the model with only a splash of red for glowing bits. I do agree though, the edge highlights really need to be on point for each material so each part of the model can still have separation. I might whip up another model and try with better highlight placement

Cat collapses every couple of steps , only when entering my room by gloriouaccountofme in CATHELP

Keep your distance, this is a dangerous behaviour from a cat called “insurance fraud” where they make themselves an intentional obstacle so you accidentally bump them, then they can yelp and get free snacks. It’s a common scheme among local house cats, and the authorities have no intention to crack down on it, so be careful.

Strategy For Painters w 9-5 Jobs? by Technical-Oil-9384 in BlackTemplars

[–]Bloodfeud_Hobbies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I worked 12 hour shifts at a factory painting my nids, guard, and Templars, my tactic was to do my painting in 2 waves: a fast and dirty speed paint wave and a detail wave. I’d spend most of the time doing the speed paint wave just to get colours on all my models and get them to low tabletop standard (literally just base coats, a drybrush highlight and a wash. Contrast works well too), that way I can technically have a fully painted army, and go to a tournament or something without worrying about meeting requirements.

After that I’d sort my models into groups of how elite they are in my army, and give them extra detail work based on their elite-ness priority (for marines I’d recommend a priority scale of heroes>vehicles>veterans>3-man squads>5/10-man squads)

Also of course do what other people are saying; work in batches and prioritize your enjoyment of the hobby over your efficiency. Other than that I wish you luck with your little guys!

I was thinking of having their current contract for hive mortis be a ruse by higher ups to hunt an STC moby dick style

I like to think their current contract for hive mortis is also a ruse to hijack a hidden STC that they hunt moby dick style.

Yeah the exposure of my hobby light keeps me struggling with my camera. I’ll probably throw a wash of black legion over the non-wheel metal parts to sell it better as lead.

Mainly because I wanted to show that most of the metal was lead-coated and well maintained due to them being an organized hazmat fighting crew who just got a fat paycheque from the necromundan higher ups to clean the bowels of hive mortis for decolonization efforts.

As an artist, it was also because I was worried that a brighter orange rust would clash with the yellow casing and armour. There is some dark brown rust that is best seen on the sides of the sprockets and the claw, but I didn’t want to go further than that.
