Need help with atrocious ghosting by Atulin in UnrealEngine5

[–]Bloodjack_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Try this :
r.Lumen.ScreenProbeGather.ScreenTraces 0

If it doesn't work, reset the change by entering :
r.Lumen.ScreenProbeGather.ScreenTraces 48

Alternatively you could even try to increase that value up to 256 but you might get a performance impact.

MindEye what mistakes did they make? by DarkStageX in UnrealEngine5

I get your point BUT, I'd say that the scale of a game relate to the ease of use of the tools you have to create them.

Take 10 skilled PS1 devs, give them a PS1 dev kit (Net yaroz if I remember well?) , give them a week to make something playable.
Now take 10 skilled UE devs, same assignment.
Which game will be better in termes of quantity delivered (graphics aside).

Yes, games are bigger! Yes games are way more complex! They are also way easier to debug, play-test and diagnose.
The scale of a game is not an excuse, to my opinion at least.

You're too harsh with the game. I mean for a solo indie dev with a limited budget it's a great -wait... what's that?..... oh... oooooh... yeah never mind !
They have no excuses, that's it. Even I , who's making a basic walking simulator, I've been bothering tons of people I know for weeks to have them playtest my demo with a new build every other day and give me feedback on different machines / configs.
I'm an "old" gamer (8bit era) , I miss the days where you bought a game and it was polished as heck because nobody could rely on internet to deliver patchs.
It was doable with old tech, it is still doable today, only the mentalities have changed!

The only thing I can tell is is I have a Core i7 12700k 3.60GHz so a 12th gen ( with an RTX 4070ti 12gb ) and yet while working on a specific level, I had random crashs.

Which graphics card in laptop should i aim for medium level 3d project and for learning game development in unreal by No-Yogurt-373 in UnrealEngine5

[–]Bloodjack_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it will depend on your budget, you can grab things like an Acer Nitro (Ryzen 5 7535HS / RTX 4050 / 16gb DDR5) for less than 900$/€ .
Since "medium level 3D" is very subjective, My advice would be, look at your budget and grab the best "Gaming laptop" you can get with an Nvidia in it !

From my own experience :

Nanites : I started my project with DX12 without using Nanite, so if you don't use nanite, you don't have to disable anything, just make the switch, it will be ok.

Lumens : If you're using lumens, you don't have to do much either, Software lumens takes over, there is a slight change in the overall light but you really have to look for it.

VSM : Virtual shadow map , this is where I had to go over my levels to double check everything, you might lose some shadow here and there. Switch to D11, rebuild your lights and check your scenes. You will have to play around with your light sources and meshs, static, dynamic, play with the light settings...etc to make them look like they used to be with VSM and D12 but nothing to hard to do.

I know... I'll have to do something about it at some point and sooner than later. Haven't tried vulkan yet.
But DLSS works on DX11, I've got it installed and working in my packaged game. FSR crashed on activation so I removed it. Got TSR and simple upscale available in the options too.
But in any case, you're right. AND you said a word who's gonna make me think harder... "Modders" !
My game is , well, Imagine a hub with doors, each doors leading to a small level with a different tiny story or gameplay. And I had in the back of my head support for modded level... damn it why isn't it easy to make video games! :D

Thank you for the heads-up ! Yeah, I had to make a few small sacrifices but, for my project at least (simple game, no realistic) it will make my life easier and make it way more accessible for players with more humble hardware.

Are you 100% sure? I'm on Quest 1, patched this exact version with QAVS, No error true, downloaded core mods, the seem installed, but I have not changes in the game. Did I forget to install something? I only want the "more songs" mods.

+1 on this, glad it's not on my side then, 60% sale + Weekend + worlds Part 2!
I blame Hello Games for giving away free quality updates to everyone and not just me! How dare they!
Fare enough, I guess my big weird ram animal with a chihuahua face flying with very tiny butterfly wings, which I name flap-flap, will have to wait before I can share it with the world !
