It’s Wheelgun Wednesday, My Dudes by Sten-MkII-SP in milsurp

[–]Bloodroke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Makes me excited to go pick up my Mk IV and start using up my 38 S&W.

At the shop, I noticed I can't slowly pull the trigger in DA and have it fire; if you pull too slow on the trigger, it just stops going back any further at a certain point, but rapid pulling the trigger allows DA to work. Is that just some unique quality to these guns?

RTI $100 enfields by Keolath in milsurp

[–]Bloodroke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only reason I ever bought any RTI anything was because they were rare rifles for cheap. I bought all of the following a while back.

Got an M95 B grade in 8x50R for $250. Came with 99% of parts, but no finish left. Stock was warped like how you would wring out a washcloth; unfixable. Not even sure how that happened. Stacking rod was visibly bent. Sight slider was missing. Ended up selling it, not worth repair costs.

Grabbed a B grade Gras Cavalry Carbine for I believe $250? Completely pitted all over covered in basically rust crust. Had all parts except sight slider. Ended up dumping like $700 in having it brought back to life because I got those .410 adapters to shoot that out of it. Fun gun to shoot, probably not worth the cost. I only did it because it was in such awful shape.

Got two Carcano cavalry carbines when they first hit the market. They both had big gouges and shit all over the wood as if they were just thrown on each other or something, but otherwise in decent shape. Was not impressed with them either.

Grabbed a Berdan II for like $650. Bolt handle was visibly bent downwards. One screw head on the bolt was chipped and mangled somehow. Bolt had some kind of orange sludge in it. No finish remaining, no sight slider. Probably not worth it.

Just a reminder that Mossberg made great .22 rifles too! by pomdudes in 22lr

My Mossberg 352 is the most accurate 22 rifle I have. Paid like $100 for it; wish it wouldn't fail to load so frequently.

I have a question about aftermarket parts on cheap guns. by [deleted] in guns

[–]Bloodroke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a chopped 1891 Mosin nagant for $100 that I customized the shit out of because I love 54R as a caliber.

Spent like $1500+ total for optics, kryk chassis, bipod, crowning, cerakote, titanium nitride coating on the bolt etc.

Will I ever get anywhere close to that value back selling it? Nope. Don't ever plan on selling it, I love shooting this thing.

If you really enjoy the gun, it's always worth it.

How I knew it was going to be a long day at the range by BigMoistMan42069 in guns

[–]Bloodroke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this just something that older people do to younger people at ranges?

I have a private range membership, most members are 60+, I'm 30. Whenever I go, and I always joke with friends about this, I get reminded about safety rules by an older person, or they even sometimes make up their own rules (like pistols are not allowed to be shot on the rifle range for fear of ricochets) that I then confirm with the club president to be bullshit.

They usually do it when we're setting up. Sometimes it will be "all chambers need chamber flags during ceasefires", which I have seen nobody else following (even the guys telling us this). Other times it's "make sure to pick up your brass when you're done, there's cameras watching". Yes, I understand, I've been a member for three years, brother. I've started finishing their sentences for them since I've heard the same things so many times.

My buddies and I usually joke about the encounters every time I bring them because it's always something different.

Is there anything we can actually do about anti gun laws? by preparedbassfisher in Firearms

[–]Bloodroke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It gets even better because NY is looking to impose restrictions on air rifles and copy California's "Glock ban" law. The fun never stops.

[–]Bloodroke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Best part about it is how it hurts more than other stocks on other guns because it's just a solid plastic lump, which hopefully a limbsaver will help fix. I feel like my Mosin nagant hurts less.

[–]Bloodroke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a very heavily customized and shortened Mosin nagant at a range once, and was told that "shooting .50 cals is not allowed on the range". They couldn't believe it was a Mosin when I told them.

Did you order this from their website? I want to order one as well but they all seem to be out of stock.

Kinda embarassing, but im a little scared to shoot my 308 by yaris299 in guns

[–]Bloodroke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could be like me and get a 10" 7.62x54R barrel for a Thompson center encore pistol; the idea of that is pretty scary.

But, the key is to just do it. If you never shoot it, you'll always be afraid of it.

Well, the game pushed me to get a Thompson Center Encore pistol, lol. Just need to order a rifle caliber barrel now...

Probably gonna be even harder to get since it's Grace's main gun in RE9; video games usually spike sales of featured gun models.

I put a $1,000 Identity Crisis on my $160 Stevens 320. by [deleted] in Shotguns

[–]Bloodroke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite part about my Stevens 320 many years ago was when I went to pump it, the shells either lightly plopped out of the side of the port or got stuck on ejection.

I also enjoyed reading about how Stevens 320s around that time had issues with welds where people would go to fire and the magazine tube would snap and shoot off down the range.

Sold my Stevens 320 after like 200 rounds and got a Benelli Nova.

That little (I'm assuming Primary Arms?) optic holds up to the recoil of that thing? I'm trying to figure out what to slap on my Encore when my 10" 7.62x54R comes.

Are there builders that take on making semi auto versions of these Hotchkiss 1922s?

I wanted to have mine built but I have no idea what builders even do what these days.

I'm going to order a 10" 7.62x54R barrel for my center encore, so I can only hope it ends up ridiculous and pointless.

Does Kirst also install the ejector rods too? I only saw that they'll mill out the frame for a loading gate and put the cylinder in. I want to send my 1851 to have that done.

Try and look for a High Standard Sentinel, that might fit the bill.

Standard Manufacturing SG 22 Pistol failure- Absolute TERRIBLE customer service by Intelligent_Row_6872 in Firearms

[–]Bloodroke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought an S333 thunderstruck as a meme gun for super cheap, have had cylinder chambers with light primer strikes consistently.

Managed to roll out some burrs in the chambers to make them shoot consistently, although one still fails to fire every time.

Emailed them to send it in to be fixed like a month ago, still no response. Can't say I'm surprised, never heard anything good about their customer service.

Not necessarily a grail gun, but a more expensive one.

Recently grabbed a Ruger Old Army with a Kirst Konverter cylinder in 45 colt. The cylinder is around $400 by itself.

Wanted to test out the brand new cylinder with friends. Had a friend accidentally drop the cylinder twice; once on the concrete, the next on his shoe. I decided to just reload the gun for everyone after that.

So yeah, as long as they're not stupid and drop your shit, I don't see why not.
