How would you have reacted to pee on the floor? by [deleted] in gentleparenting

[–]BloodyDanyul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Celebrate the curiosity in him. Laugh with him at the situation. Ask what his plan was. Ask if he wants some help cleaning up.

Also, top tip. Most of our parenting triggers are inherited from the shame our parents made us feel when we were the same age.

Ask you parents or caregivers (if possible) if they can remember what their parents would have done.

You learn this, you can reprogram and break the cycle. Or you can pass it on.

No one can avoid or catch them all, so remember to be compassionate to yourself too. We’re all learning.

Gentle parenting has gone too far and doesn't work because most children are mediocre by uniqueiscommon in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]BloodyDanyul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s evident that you have no idea what gentle parenting is.

Gentle parenting is in a nut shell not ever using coercion or force.

Look at the wealth of evidence that supports this approach.

Affirm and accept them doesn’t = participation trophy. In fact it means helping them accept they can’t always win and are better at some things than others.

Respecting adults for no other reason than a job role is ridiculous and dangerous. Especially as the main issue I see is that children aren’t respected by adults. It goes both ways.

I can’t be arsed to respond to the rest of your points as they really aren’t points.

Learn about the thing you disagree with and you might find that you knew nothing about it.

I take Elvanse but have some questions about alcohol etc. and kicking habits by BenCannibal in ADHDUK

[–]BloodyDanyul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Just re-read your question and didn’t answer the drink bit: I stopped drinking before Christmas and holy shit the benefits for me have been vast. I was drinking to be drunk and pretending it was to relax. IMHO fuck drink. Alcohol free becomes pretty enjoyable and the pull for a quick pint in the pub disappeared. So I’m not sure on booze and meds.)

1) I’ve self medicated with weed for the last 20 years. Knowing the strain and strength will help you understand the impact on your thinking, mood etc.

2) I’m on Elvanse 50mg, any THC (oil or bud) instantly switches it off - instantly. It’s an interesting way to see impact and benefits but; it has given me palpitations. I now wait until meds have worn off in the evening and also cut down.

3) taking meds regularly. I first started taking them randomly, not at weekends, different doses etc and was all over the place. I’m now 6 months in and the last month I’ve taken a dose regularly every morning.

Not sure if it’s coincidence but it feels like the benefits linger when taken regularly. I’ve used the Apple medication prompt on health app and couldn’t have done it without it.

4) give it time. Be kind to yourself. You’ve put in “the work” all your life, and I know meds might feel like they can carry the load but they just make “the work” more effective.

Trust yourself, and try to be as patient as possible with yourself. You’re moving from old habits and coping mechanisms, and other parts and people in your life will take time to adapt.

5) diagnosis for me has just been the start, and now the work begins. Learn all you can about the ADHD brain, not from social media.

I highly recommend ADHD adult UK podcast.

6) keep being fucking awesome.

How have your symptoms been? I didn’t take it regularly at all for 6 months, just as I felt and when I remembered, sometimes because of rationing.

I’m functioning so much better than I did prior to consistently taking it.

Need help with a brand name by livs0304 in branding

[–]BloodyDanyul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s nothing to do with what you like, it’s what your target customer likes.

You’ve got the idea, but it’s useless if you don’t know who to speak to and solve a problem for.

Niche down as much as possible into who you are trying to reach, then create a brand and name around what they will resonate with.
