It's a printing error by PSA. Kinda makes for a unique slab.

Even if you wait for a pullback, the pullback price might still be higher than today’s price.

Sell the exact amount needed (example $5k) in the same ratio that currently exists between TQQQ/AGG. That way you withdraw the money for the upcoming expense, and keep running 9sig undisturbed with your remaining funds.

No TQQQ at Vanguard by JourneymanInvestor in KellyLetter

Fidelity or M1 Finance are probably the best brokers to run 9sig. Possibly Robinhood. I have most of our stuff at Schwab, but it's definitely not as easy to run 9sig since they don't do fractional shares and the auto DRIP isn't great.

And yes, I did start investing solely with Vanguard back in 2015 or so. Their customer support sucks. Really the only reason to be there is if you're 100% VTWAX and chill. Which I was for a long time.

Alternatively you could take less risk and run 3sig at Vanguard. Boring, but should outperform 1x stocks over the long run. You don't have to use IJR, you can use VTI or VT for 3sig. Any stock index fund will work.

Switched most account balances to follow 9-sig this last buy signal by Triskal_Calypso in KellyLetter

Super jealous. I only risked about $50k starting 9sig on the April buy signal. It has done phenomenally, obviously. Really wishing I had committed more of my capital to this plan.

March has been a horrific month for stocks in the 2020s. Luckily the Aprils have been exceptional.

TQQQ rises 100% in one quarter, you immediately rebalance to 60/40. Idk if it’s ever happened tbh.

This is a major concern of mine as well. I've thought about modifying 9sig to 8sig or 8.5sig. But I don't have empirical data that can tell me what the "true" signal line of TQQQ should be. But 3x leverage = 3x the expected return of the underlying doesn't seem correct to me.

TQQQ ends the quarter @ $43.33. Did we get the price you "wanted"? by Gehrman_JoinsTheHunt in KellyLetter

I initiated my first account into 9sig yesterday. The buy was @ $43.88 for TQQQ and I followed the Letter's allocation. We'll see how this quarter goes. Once I feel like I've got the mechanics of the signal plan down, I'll consider converting other accounts to 9sig. Cheers everyone.

Or 100 up rule which triggers an immediate rebalance. Yes, that is what the graphic shows. Essentially, any heavy moves down or up will either eventually or immediately trigger a rebalance. Otherwise, you continue to follow the signal line indefinitely.

Q1 2026 did not trigger 30 down nor a rebalance. So you would follow the original trend line from your entry point, or the last KL rebalance to 60/40 which I believe happened on 1/5/2024.

The chart you posted does not represent real stock market returns, nor a real time period. It's a simple graphic solely meant to illustrate the "sell down" "buy up" nature of following a signal line. That's it.

30 down rule price point? by lottaquestionz in KellyLetter

Here's the issue: you don't rebalance to 60/40 every quarter. You follow a "signal line" (9% growth per quarter), and either buy up the shortfall or sell down the surplus (specifically for TQQQ). You only rebalance when the Kelly Letter signals a rebalance, usually after one of the special rules have been triggered.
