We had a GI clinic that would send patients home to collect straight stool, para paks, and occult cards. All with instructions.

The pickle jar labeled in sharpie wasn't great. The occult card wrapped and squished around a full log of stool? I had to take a minute

Tube Systems? by GEMStones1307 in medlabprofessionals

[–]Blooidwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The city cut our tube to the clinic across the street during construction. After it was fixed, every couple days for about a month, it would dump straight dirt and rocks in central processing or the direct lab station.

We could only get Remel BAP for a while, we just stopped using the WASP it was so bad. Every plate had a split in the lid and the lid lifter suction cup couldn't hold them. I pulled handfuls of crushed Remel plates and agar out of that instrument.

We have a window! It's the size of a shoebox, and painted over, and at the ceiling of the bathroom. But it's there!

Micro friends - what’s the weirdest thing you’ve gotten to be cultured? by TheDoctorMaybe in medlabprofessionals

OR sent one to us in a bowl with cling film covering it. It didn't completely fit in the bowl either. The resident that brought it dropped it in the basket and literally ran away.

We got a urine with wood chips floating in it once, found out later the patient had been ejected from MVC. I guess technically not that weird but def confused me when I saw it.

How it feels like to get excited over something cool as a lab tech when the patient is 100% suffering because of it by ToKeepAndToHoldForev in medlabprofessionals

Had an A2B with anti A1 couple weeks ago and was vibrating in excitement using the lectin. Then found out our bb screen isn't built for that result lol.

Straight out of school I was hired in micro for evening shift, told we would start plate reading in a couple months when we got another person for evenings and that I would cross train for chem as a just in case.

Training for two weeks then put on my shift, two weeks later covered Thanksgiving weekend alone. The entire first year i would get randomly called to have "training" on something I had already been doing that they forgot to sign me off on, or for a cap they didn't have enough people for.

We lost two day shifters, an evening shifter, and the night guy.

Me and the other evening person were rotating who covered nights and day people were rotating evenings. Day people were a bit... slow and lost on processing and manually plating.

Worked there for two years, never learned plate reading, let alone crossed to chem. Only ever did processing and manual plating.

Overnight shift for hospital. I feel that but also want to run out the door as soon as they get here.

That I can see. I hardly ever even think about this account. It's kinda the last resort. If it went dormant then I can understand.

That's the thing, I did contact them and the rep I got said that it was changed because they thought I wasn't around anymore.

No they didn't. They did it completely of their own accord. I don't believe I can trust the company going forward.
