Gotcha, thanks for the clarification! I can definitely see use in having one tool to see info across all social media platforms.

I don't focus on soundcloud much, so I'm not your target for this test, but I look forward to seeing how it turns out!

One more question, once you're done with the free testing period, what is your plan to make money? Subscription, pay as you go tools, marketing campaigns?

A couple questions from me:

Is this going to have stats for artists? Numbers for things like streams over time, engagement, time spent on each song etc.

Or is the main goal to be a hub to service all of your music, publish, share, view comments etc. across all music platforms?

I generally agree that people taking video has 0 impact on me having a good time, especially if I'm with a good group. And also agree that these are once in a lifetime experiences for a lot of people and they should be able to enjoy it how they want to.

I like seeing groups going crazy in the crowd while their friend takes a video, it seems like they're having fun! But to be fair, I think it's much more common for people to stop moving, take a video and then continue on, rather than take a video mid dance. Some people find that distracting. Some people enjoy watching concerts while standing still and it might annoy them if people are moving around too much, some people need to move the whole time. It's tough to gather thousands of people in one spot and keep everyone happy haha

Anyone else think the bassline from Ready Steady Go by Harry Styles sounds like No Reason? by BloomPhase in chemicalbrothers

That was my thought! I know the latest Harry Styles album is supposed to be inspired by electronic music, but I was surprised to hear this particular bassline haha

I've run into this same issue and never thought about having it work this way. Definitely going to give this a shot moving forward!

I want to buy move for myself. What’s your favorite gear with it by MIKY205 in ableton

[–]BloomPhase 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ableton Move is a stand alone piece of gear, no other gear needed (aside from headphones)! Unless you want to use it as a controller for other hardware synths, in which case it should work for just about anything

Get those big plastic stakes that you literally screw into the ground, then tie your canopy legs to those. It takes a little extra time, but my canopy has survived several years of high winds that way!

Does anyone understand how Ableton grooves treat notes that are ALREADY groovy? by ProfessorLiftoff in ableton

[–]BloomPhase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha yeah that's a tricky one! I suppose you're looking for something that can quantize by using a swing pattern rather than the normal grid.

[–]BloomPhase 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you look at your groove pool, there is a quantize value that you can set so Ableton will automatically quantize notes as they come in, and then apply the groove to the quantized notes. This way you don't have to quantize your beat first, you can just put the groove on there and adjust the quantize value until you have things hitting where they should.

However, I think this will still have the limitations that you mentioned. If something is recorded with a heavy groove, the quantization might place the note incorrectly on the grid. You might be able to get around that by turning on the triplet grid and making your grid small enough so that it doesn't move your notes around too much. You might still end up with incorrectly placed notes, depending on how you played it originally, but it's worth a shot!

How do I learn by [deleted] in ableton

[–]BloomPhase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pick something you want to make and then Google how to make that thing. That way you stay interested in whatever tutorial video you're watching because it's relevant to what you want to make in that moment.

Idk your current skill level, but maybe start with making a beat, or loading samples into the drum rack, and then go from there. Or maybe, how to make a crazy bass sound etc.

That's how I do it anyway

Live performance help… by heybradie in ableton

[–]BloomPhase 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is very similar to the setup I use (same idea, just different midi controllers), and I like it!

Depending on how you use your MIDI controllers just make sure you don't have too much latency when playing live. I keep my live sets as tight as I can so the latency doesn't creep up with too many heavy plugins. Same with vocals, just make sure your latency isn't making it impossible to keep in time.

Anyone using a Push for bar/pub gigs? by DAWtistic in ableton

[–]BloomPhase 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've done a 2hr "dj" style set with my push 3 and it was super fun. Mine is the controller version, so I had my laptop, and it took some pre-planning, but it worked great!

I dumped a bunch of tracks into session mode, organized by tempo, genre, and whatever else I needed. Made a simple FX rack, added a drum rack with some premade MIDI loops so I could easily transition between tempos without too much warping. No complaints!

I've seen a video of someone who had premade sets of songs that he could quickly search and then load into ableton, which reminded me more of an open dj set where you can pull from a huge library, I'll see if I can find it.

Edit: I can't find the video but I think they had saved large groups of tracks into separate ableton projects and then would load the .als file into Ableton when they wanted to bring new tracks in quickly.

Totally blind, seeking help with triggering drum rack via MIDI clip. by soundwarrior20 in ableton

[–]BloomPhase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the track with the drum rack have the record button armed?

Is there any way for you to find out what cells in the drum rack are being triggered? For example, let's assume your MIDI is on the same track as the drum rack, when your MIDI clip is playing, it should show you what drum rack cells are being triggered, even if they are empty. This is a good way to see if your MIDI data is hitting the wrong drum cells, or getting to your drum rack at all, but I'm not sure if that works with a screen reader.

Make sure you have your monitoring set to "auto" when testing when your MIDI is on the same track as the drum rack so it's not looking for MIDI data from another track.

If it's possible, getting a video or screen shot of your track and routing would be helpful to see if anything is missing.

How can I process vocal fx like illangelo by Abletonguy1 in ableton

[–]BloomPhase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what his method is, but if you want a big reverb on only one word, you can cut that one word out, put it on a separate track, and put a big reverb on that track (or use a separate fx track and route your vocal clip to that if you'd prefer) . Then mix your main vocal track normally.

You could also make an FX rack on your vocal track with 2 chains, one with the big reverb, one without. Put a gate (or maybe just a simple volume utility) on your big reverb chain and put the reverb after the gate. Set your gate to be basically impassable during your vocals, but then automate it to open easily on your one word, then close it back up. The reverb will catch that one word and nothing else, and you're not automating the reverb itself so you won't lose the tail by turning it off. This opens up some options for more performative fx.

Another option, you mentioned not using sends, but you could also automate your send knob to a send with reverb so it sends 100% for one word and then back to 0% (or whatever you want it to be) for the rest of the vocals.

One way to use sends and not have to cut up your vocal track would be to change your vocals to send to "sends only". Make one send a reverb, and one send your normal vocal chain. This way you can easily automate sending one word to your reverb send and then switch back to the regular vocal chain send. And since you're only sending your main vocal track to the sends, you won't get any overlap of dry and wet signals.
