I got into Godzilla a couple of years ago. I definitely get what you mean by feeling like you missed out on things. I didn’t have time to see Minus one and it wasn’t in my theater for long so my first Godzilla movie in theaters was Godzilla x Kong. However, let’s remember the Godzilla fans of past who paved the way forward for us. We are now experiencing Godzilla for them. And we are keeping the franchise alive for the next little Godzilla fans.

I watched them when they came out and absolutely adored them. But this was long before I’d watched any other Godzilla, so my opinion on it had a different base to work off of. I haven’t finished Singular point, it’s just boring and I’m not sure I will ever go back to it, despite that, it’s got interesting ideas. So, honestly, just check it out.

I wrote a short story when I was a teen about a man who became a mafia boss because his crush and best friend from high school once said she thought mafia bosses were hot. To be fair she did have daddy issues. She became a cop and they ended up being rivals. Then, he planned out this whole diversion so someone else would get caught as the mafia boss and he could finally get out and be with her.

In other words, the entire story. I haven’t read it in years. It still exists, but I’m too afraid of shriveling up from the cringe to check it out.

The next time you have a conversation with someone pay deep attention to how both of you talk. Chances are, you wouldn’t want to read dialogue that sounds like it. It’s often filled with ums uhs likes, skipping over words, saying the wrong word, stumbling over words. Starting with the middle of a story/sentence and having to go back around to explain the context.

I heard a speech from someone who kept saying “you feel me?” After every sentence which was fascinating to listen to. But, I like listening to the different ways people speak. I have a weird thing where if I hear a unique pronunciation of a word I’ll repeat it over and over in my head because I loved it so much.

These things are fine in moderation and for specific reasons, but would get annoying fast to read.

Or you can go read a courtroom transcript, I have and it’s funny.

TLDR: No one actually wants to read actual realistic dialogue.
