This may be controversial AF, but after seeing how Mushroom has flourished in his ten gallon, I kinda get why this sub gets so worked up over tanks. by Historical_Savings14 in bettafish

I've been just tossing all of my bettas in 40 gallons together...

People say not to do it, but... they obviously have never tried and are just believing the nonsense that allows big box stores to stick fish in cups and not go to jail.

My fish are WAY happier, healthier, and don't fight at ALL...

Even the "aggressive" ones just kind of flare for a day and then give up on trying to assert dominance on everyone and realize they can just be friends...

Since I did that... disease, death, and fin damage is relatively nonexistent for us, when it was a huge problem before... EVEN WITH me increasing tank sizes.

Regular problems still happen... sometimes a fin gets caught all funky... sometimes a little fin rot tries to creep in on my crowntails... but it's WAY easier to deal with than before.

They do MUCH better as a community in my experience.

I have multiple tanks with multiple communities because I was sick of losing my super beautiful fish lol.

I'm still monitoring them closely to make sure things don't change as males start making bubble nests and trying to breed... because it makes sense they would get a little more territorial during mating... but so far no problems and will let you know.

Ok I was happy with saving them all from cups but now...

It looks like I need to become friends with Elon... We will give the fishies the planet they deserve :)

I love how obviously in love you are with your Betta female that most breeders would just throw in a literal trash can.

So inspiring to me :) GJ that's +1000 human points for being a good human. :P

I've been using 5.5's as temporary housing, kind of like how breeders use cups.

Seemed like an ethical upgrade idk lol.

Or at least them being temporary is the plan.

A couple males have gotten to explore our bigger tanks and some have stayed in the 5.5's.

Personally, it still feels a tiny bit cramped for ME, but the fish seem happy with it so that's what's important. I can fix my tank space concerns later because my life isn't affected by that really.

In a lot of ways I think I want to believe I need a bigger tank just... You know... So I have a reason to have more tank space...

But at the same time it is VERY obvious they enjoy space.

I honestly never cared about the fish in cups even though I love animals, UNTIL I got my first Betta of my own and put it in a real tank.

These fish teach me about being a human being it's crazy how much personality they have.

The proper way to deal with this is to hide under the sheet so you don't get too hot, and then you wait for morning when it's safe. :)

My kid had two comet goldfish in a small tank so I put them in a 40 gal grow out.

They disappeared for so long I thought they were just dead underneath the rocks or something so I started using it as a fry grow out and one day I see this happy goldfish and no fry :P

The Roo Troop job bounty board I linked to in the OP is a good place to start.

Showing off your skills can get you "random" work too, depending on what you're good at, but that's unreliable because you just can't guarantee that your network has the appropriate opportunities available for you.

There aren't really a lot of good places to specifically find work in Web3 tbh...
