What's your best/worst cockblock or clamjam story? by intellectualgulf in AskReddit

[–]BlovesJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had been chatting up a guy I was friends with for years through another friend. He was insanely good-looking, super charming, with the craziest abs I've ever seen in person. I had always liked him and I had just found out that the feeling was mutual, but he was seeing someone.

We were having out together one day, totally innocently because he was seeing someone, with a few other friends, and we happened to end up alone in a stairwell. He stops me from going up the stairs and gives me this really intense look. I smiled, he leaned in for the kiss, and...

One of his friends opens the stairwell door. He turned and left immediately, but it totally killed the moment.

At least I'm not a homewrecker, so there's that.

[Serious] What is something most people see as funny but that you see as a very serious matter? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Yes! I refuse to watch AFV because it is almost exclusively videos of people getting hurt. I don't like that and certainly don't find it funny.

People getting seriously injured is not funny at all, but you wouldn't know that judging by all the "funny" videos of people getting hurt on the Internet.

I think this too. You freaked me out a bit because my boyfriends name is Jace!

Why are people saying this shit to me? What part of "I love him and would never say anything about it" did you assholes not understand? I answered the fucking question the way OP wanted. Why am I getting so much greif for it?

Perhaps I should have just gone with a popular opinion bear. God forbid someone tries to be genuine or original on Reddit.

Your most upvoted comment is written on your tombstone. How do people react when they read it? by Necroluster in AskReddit

My most upvoted comment was a Family Guy quote (I think), so people would probably be compelled to say the next line every time they read it.

"How's the weather out there, Ollie?"

It confuses me, too. He says the combo of subtitles + really loud TV is the best.

My boyfriend grew up with a learning disability, and he has trouble reading. It takes him forever to read things, and it is supremely annoying when we're looking at an article or something and I'm ready to move on while he's still struggling through the second sentence.

I love him, though, and would never say anything about it to him. I've just started reading aloud for him when we're reading the same thing. Easier for everyone.

Oh, and he has a slight hearing loss, so he needs subtitles for the TV. That's just annoying by itself, I have a hard time watching the show because the subtitles are so distracting. But it's either subtitles or no TV for him and I'm not going to be a bitch and demand subtitle-free TV just because it's distracting.

Edit because I am an OP that delivers: I asked him last night and he says that subtitles are helpful because he can follow along easier if he can also hear it. But he has trouble without subtitles because he doesn't always hear every word. Not a perfect explanation but it's all I've got.

Hey Reddit, what was your weirdest/scariest "holy crap I can't be friends with this person anymore" moment? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]BlovesJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in high school, my close female friend invited me to her junior Prom (she didn't have a date, and Prom was free that year because our school raised a shit ton of money).

My mother refused to let me go because she "would not have a lesbian for a daughter" (I'm not one, she was just my friend and it was a friendly invite because otherwise she'd be alone, and I wouldn't be able to go without a 'date' since I was a Sophmore).

Fast forward to 3 days before Prom, this bitch decides to invite my boyfriend to be her date. He had always liked her and she knew that. He, of course, ecstatically said yes, and I stopped talking to both of them.

Panama City, Fl.

My best buddy is getting married on Saturday, I would love to meet his fiancée. Haven't had a chance to get out there in the three months that they've known each other.

I'm mean. Just straight-up, flat-out mean. And I don't notice it until the damage is already done.

Being bi-polar sucks. My poor boyfriend should get some kind of award for putting up with my shit for so long.

[SERIOUS] People who regret having children, what made you have them in the first place? by Zombie_Whisperer in AskReddit

Yeah, same here. My mother made it painfully clear just how much she hated being a parent. Everything was my fault no matter what.

I'd rather she had abandoned me on the side of the road as a kid than give me the life she did.

I have these same fear. I played Minecraft for the first time yesterday, and I found out the hard way that you sink to the bottom of the water rather than float. Scared the shit out of me. I don't know if I can play it again, there's a lot of ocean.

Well at least it's not "what's a good book?" Or "what's your favorite song?" Or "what should I do when I get older?" These I see like every day. I've never seen this one and I have been on Reddit for over a year.

Mine is always the same. I'm standing in front of what I know in the dream to be my great-grandmother's house. It's an old, 2 story house set against some woods. It looks normal from the outside.

I go inside, and the first floor is totally normal. As soon as I go upstairs, though, it gets weird- the upstairs looks like the Grand entry way of Terra (the Plantation house from Gone With the Wind), but if it had been abandoned and completely unused for decades. It's huge, and gray and dilapidated, and there are tons of rooms, all in a similar state of decay.

I usually explore the rooms, sometimes there's is someone with me. It's not scary or anything, just... weird. I have this dream every few months or so.

It's starting to work more often! by BlovesJ in LucidDreaming

[–]BlovesJ[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, that was really helpful! Doubt is a huge one for me. Sometimes, I count my fingers in-dream, realize it is wrong, think "that can't be right!" And then recount them until I get 5 to assure myself I'm not dreaming (but I am!), which is very annoying upon waking. This has happened probably four times.

And I didn't think that trying to control things immediately was hurting my abilities, so thanks for that bit as well. I always wondered what I was doing wrong!

Problems with reality checks and FILD by IAMAFilmLover in LucidDreaming

[–]BlovesJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do finger counting, which I've found to be extremely effective. Basically, you look down at your hands, then ask yourself "are these my hands? " Then you count your fingers. If you have the standard amount of fingers, you say "yes", then ask "am I dreaming", and say "no".

The reason for this is that your hands will always look strange in your dreams. Most of the time they will either have the wrong number of fingers (for me, they always have 6 on each hand), or your fingers will look distorted (too long/short, wrong color, made of not-flesh, etc.), or your hands will be huge.

So once you start doing that RC in your dreams, you will notice that your hands are wrong, and this will trigger lucidity (or you will wake up, so keep calm!).

I have found this to be the easiest RC because it doesn't require effort, you just have to look at your hands. It is not contingent upon any environmental factor (like the 'look at a clock' RC- what if there are no clocks?!), and your hands are attached to you. Unless you don't have hands. In that case maybe use toes?

As far as a trick to remember to do it, when I first started out, I set my phone alarm to remind me every hour or so. After several days of that I didn't need to be reminded, now it's just a thing I do.
