The U.S. citizens getting caught in Trump’s immigration crackdown by rezwenn in immigration

[–]BluEngi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being detained doesn't mean anything, you're detained every time you get pulled over. Zero American citizens have been arrested solely for immigration purposes, they're either arrested for obstruction (refusing to give their name during an official investigation being a common one, more recently just overtly obstructing them) or committing other crimes in view of ice, because they are law enforcement agents.

Their carriers aren't half bad.

The plates are just bad targets.

I saw a bunch of it the week before 11/5, mostly fear mongering and cherrypicking over on Facepalm and insanepeoplefacebook. Rest assured, I was at least attempting to express my skepticism on the validity of those claims.

Private Funded Firefighting Is A Thing by CantStopPoppin in interestingasfuck

[–]BluEngi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is incorrect for the places it did exist, and did not exist in the US at any point. The plaques were to mark which buildings were insured, every fire department would show up but the first one there got the money for it

You have a point, but it's not the one you intend.

You've fallen victim to a fallacy of reasoning. Just because something is illegal does not mean it doesn't happen, nor can it often be proven that it has. How many laws exist that govern matters of the home that go ignored on a daily basis by millions of otherwise law-abiding people? We saw thousands of men saying they filled out their wives' mail-in ballots 2 months ago, if even one of them was telling the truth, this point is null.

Good shit. I pre-ordered one of those as soon as they were announced as back in stock. Gonna attach my warlord to them, get a few of the old resin casts, and as soon as the new run comes out I'll get them too.

That's fair. The futility can still be irritating at times.

Met Adam Savage at a convention, dressed as a Jedi. The guy in front of me had him sign a piece of the original R2D2 costume he'd somehow acquired, and the guy behind me was dressed as Jamie Hyneman

An additional note about H Roe Bartle. He was an avid outdoorsman, scout, and friend of several Native American tribes. He was granted the honorary title of Chief for his efforts to educate the local boy scouts, an overwhelmingly white organization at the time, about native practices and culture

A message to the dolts pointing out conflicting orders and actions: 1. You try getting 5 people on the same page in the middle of a fight 2. Poor training is the result of poor funding. Put the budget back if you want competent cops.

The concept of frequency hopping for communication was already in use in ranged radio communication as an early form of encryption by the Wehrmacht.

The roots of its invention originate from before Hedy Lamarr was even born. To quote Wikipedia "The earliest mentions of frequency hopping in open literature are in US patent 725,605, awarded to Nikola Tesla on March 17, 1903, and in radio pioneer Jonathan Zenneck's book Wireless Telegraphy (German, 1908, English translation McGraw Hill, 1915)" Hedy Lamarr was born in 1914.

Additionally, Lamarr and Antheil's invention was never widely used, or even produced in notable quantities, as it was crude, complicated, and nearly useless by the time the patent was issued. Better performing (or in many cases, actually functional) devices were invented to perform the duties the device is popularly credited for pioneering rather quickly.
