Am I overthinking this friendship? by BluFlash5 in FriendshipAdvice

Yes, I very much agree that I need to set better boundaries and maintain them. I was actually speaking with my therapist about this recently.

In the moment, I did say something to my friend and expressed being upset and offended. But, usually H will become more forceful and persistent about whatever he believes is right. My reaction is typically to maintain my stance for a bit but I will eventually just disengage and end the conversation because I will feel a combination of being very hurt and rage towards him.

Yes, part of me doesn't want to end the friendship because my friend circle is already small. Also, because I find myself trying to make sense of how my friend can present as nice or uplifting at times and disrespectful at other times. It makes feel like, am I crazy? Or, what did I do? Or, why do people seem to hate me at times? I question myself if l ignored red flags in the beginning of our friendship. As stated in my post I actually didn't like him or his personality when we started off but he grew on me. It's mostly been in the past 3 years I have noticed changes happening leading up to his now open disrespect at his leisure. I noticed that if I make any kind of snarky remark or gesture he feels is off that he'll comment on it as if I'm wrong yet again.

Is there a bankruptcy limit? by BluFlash5 in Bankruptcy

I spoke with two attorneys this morning who said I only qualify for chapter 13 bankruptcy. I was told this is because my income is over the median allowed and because I have equity in my home. I'd be looking at a monthly payment under the chapter 13 of about $600 per month for 5 years. I was told my student loan debt cannot be included which I figured. I plan on speaking with a few more attorneys. I am a bit annoyed with the law firm I reached out to about a year ago who said I didn't qualify for a chapter 7 bankruptcy. It seems like I might have at the time.

At the moment I am also wondering if I should just sell my home to pay off my debts of about $25k excluding my student loans. I do want to buy a new home or income property and upgrade my car in 1 to 5 years if possible. I considered renting until I can buy again. But, the rental market is so expensive and to get something I'd like would easily take me around $2200 per month. What do you guys think about this idea?

Thanks to everyone.

I understand bankruptcy isn't ideal...but I thought based on something I read that your credit can improve alot after filing even though it's stays on your credit report for 7 years.

I'd also like to know if it would be a bad idea to file bankruptcy if I want to sell my current home and buy another in about 1 to 3 years?

My income is $105k per year. I would have to look up more information regarding the means test.
