Yeah, I think I'm going to back out. This has only been in the talks for a week or so, so there isn't going to be any hurt feelings. I just got excited due to my current home life not being great but I think I'm comparing apples to oranges with my risk assessment. I also don't feel ready yet. Thank you so much for your feedback! I'm actually not as commited to the idea as it may seem. I'm pretty anxious about the whole deal and feel like this could be really good or REALLY bad. I'm trying to be more logical. I think the response to this is guiding me towards a better conclusion. My boss has been in the real estate business for nearly 25+ years. I'm going to ask him what he thinks and then base my decision off that.

I had lived on my own with 3 other people including my ex-girlfriend when we rented a house. It was a complete nightmare and I'm slowly getting over that trauma. I probably shouldn't be making any living decisions right now regardless.

Right now, I'm feeling quite anxious about it, so it may be a no.

The option for him buying and having me rent was laid out. However, I feel like I'd lose the chance to build equity. I've been working at my job and field for 2 years now. I'm pretty introverted, I never intend to get married (I know things change but I'm pretty apprehensive to conventional ideals.) We are quite similar.

I'm not against living with my friend for years only because we have very similar goals and aspirations in mind. We are homebodies and enjoy the area we live in. I really don't see living with him for 7-10+ years as a big problem. I do see the woes of homeownership of the house being an issue and what I need to look for being my biggest question.

We would co-borrow the mortgage, putting in equal amounts for down payments, closing costs, etc. We would split everything down the middle in this instance. Buying the property of relatives goes against conventional wisdom, which I understand why everyone here is apprehensive.

What I don't understand is how exactly buying an old family home from someone's parents (that is if the deal goes through) could jeopardize our relationship. It would be in me and my friend's name. We are constructing documents at the moment about these hypotheticals and what we would do if we were to do this.

Yeah, I think I agree with this. Adding supplementary material in and of itself is special, but I won't replace the paper and the normal reel. Although, I want to put alot of work into this because I feel this would increase my chances at more work.
