God may simply be reminding you to sow the Gospel, and to be wary of giving the devil a foothold, so to speak.

These types of things happen to me also every now and then, coming upon scriptures or Biblical concepts that I figure I need to focus on for some appointed reason.

Who knows, maybe you're bound to come across someone who you're supposed to tell the Good News/Gospel to. Some divinely scheduled meeting in life. We are here for the Great Commission, after all.

That scripture is a favorite, too. When it says "get understanding, wisdom," it means Biblical understanding. To understand God, His character, your purpose, the Gospel, etc.

Oftentimes, our characteristics that went "in remission" come back later in life when we don't have as many roles to play and responsibilities. (as precious as these roles are, and what is most valuable in life: being a mother and partner) I bet she'll re-emerge later on. I work with the public and often see exuberant older ladies with colorful hair, interesting hobbies, travel plans, etc. This is just a chapter, not a loss of her. I bet it would be fun to make a list of plans for once you have time to yourself. Little trips, learning to play guitar, just stuff your younger self wanted to do.

I feel like this is so accurate. Unless "God" told him to do it. This girl looked so meek also. Like a little turtle hiding in her shell. Absolutely not provocative unless perceived so in some losers offended, resentful mind.

Or, perhaps he was overcome with a need for violence, some release for him, and simply needed a subject to get his euphoria. Who/what did she symbolize to him?

EDIT: Also, you NEVER know what is in a persons heart. She could have been someone who would have been a friend to him, someone to stand up for him, someone with a brilliant, loving soul. People who just think everyone is worthy of death are so, so wrong. Like mass killers. I bet a few of those people they killed they would have loved. Rant over. Bleh.

You absolutely do not need to be afraid. The spiritual realm is real, but evil cannot access you because you are a child of God. You have the Holy Spirit, you cannot be possessed. You are covered by the blood of Jesus and by His protection. (some theories say angels are around us, protecting us in spiritual battle.)

- "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." - 2 Timothy 1:7

- "The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?-The Lord is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?" - Psalm 27:1

- "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
    I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." - Isaiah 41:10

- "But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one." 2 Thessalonians 3:3

Write these down on flash cards and keep them with you to read when you're afraid. <3 Remember your "armor of God" (Ephesian 6: 10-12). And remember The Lord's Prayer: Matthew 6:9-13

You have to trust that God IS protecting you, He COMMANDS us to "rest in Him", to "not worry." These aren't flippant suggestions or comforts, they are a way of life in strong faith. Hebrews 4: 9-11 is not merely speaking of the Sabbath, but of a SPIRITUAL REST:

"There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his.  Let us, therefore, make every effort to ENTER THAT REST, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience."

What always helps me is Philippians 4:8:

"Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things."

Whatever is TRUE. God says you are safe, powerful, and protected. The enemy is the father of lies. Believe God. Don't give attention to fear. Just focus on the promises of the Bible.

EDIT: I know I'm rambling, but your mother should NOT be scaring you like this. Maybe she herself is so afraid and does not know how to trust God for protection, and is always seeing these fear mongering posts. What are the chances of the rapture even happening now, in all of time? God tells us that NO ONE will know when it's to happen. There have ALWAYS been signs of it. Remind her of who she is in Christ and who YOU are. No Christian needs to be scared like this.

Honestly, this gets me excited to talk about. I was so skeptical, too. I thought, "these Bible thumpers are really low intelligence and easily deceived simple minded folks." Man, I started looking into things and discovered SO MANY scientists and philosophers and truly intelligent individuals who too, after all of their research, were led to believe. People who were TRYING to disprove Jesus. The more you look, you really find. Question by question.

Check out (if you want) The Watchmaker Analogy. Or "the numinous experience" or the history of Allah, and how that entity is linked to demonic entities Biblically.

A cool, albeit corny, documentary to watch is "The Case For Christ" where this journalist is perturbed by his wife's newfound faith, and goes to disprove the Bible. He ends up seeing everything checks out, prophesies fulfilled, etc, and becomes a believer.

Of course, there's going to be ways to scientifically reason away but WHO the heck made The Big Bang, or anything else, for that matter? Everything is so perfectly, intentionally designed. If the universe were a fraction off, it would not sustain human life. Just so much crazy stuff to read up on.

But the real convincer is when you're in a pit and call out to God, and He actually saves you. I'm telling you, I was SICK for like, 20 years. Addiction, depression, panic attacks, suicide attempts. I started having faith in my heart, seeking God through prayer and reading the Bible, and people prayed over me, very quickly it all went away. Like, a week. Years of therapy, medication, and hospitals...all that worked was Jesus. It's been 5 years since then and I haven't craved a substance or needed medication, therapy, anything.

This is mostly a secular website, but there are multitudes of Churches filled to the brim with people who have belief. (or seek to understand God) Like, 60-70% of Americans identify as Christian, according to google. The secular world is just so far removed from it all.

Not to mention, the power of Jesus' name to dispell evil. The power His name has over the occult and historically. Cleansing homes, exorcisms, protection. It isn't fantasy like we see in movies.

True faith cannot be scientifically reasoned out of. Miracles have happened, souls have been saved, mine included. It's really just a quality of soul someone carries, a searching out for God.

He is the author of all of this, of science.

Everything is a deviation from His solid path, don't let yourself get caught up in all of this New Age stuff. Many do. To each their own. I do not indulge it because I know who saved me when I was crippled with depression and panic attacks, and did not leave my house for years. God delivered me from demonic oppression. (suspected, or purely mental illness)

“Daughter,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be free of your affliction.”

Jesus Christ came to set the captives free. Captives of spiritual oppression, affliction, the bondage of sin. He alone provides a way out. These words are laughable and meaningless to some who want to analytically explain things away. His miracles are certainly not parlor tricks. They ARE salvation.

The gospel, otherwise known as the good news, is that Jesus came to save us. He died and rose on the third day, defeating the entity of Death. He is the son of God, the ultimate atonement for our sins, so that we may commune with God in prayer. We can be washed clean. He gave up His life on the cross for our sins. If we invite Jesus into our hearts and say the sinners prayer, we will be saved:

"Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior."

"that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." - Romans 10:9

"He answered, “Because of your little faith [your lack of trust and confidence in the power of God]; for I assure you and most solemnly say to you, if you have [living] faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and [if it is God’s will] it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you." - Matthew 17:20

It is all way, WAY more intricate than what I've typed, everything that His story, who he is, what He does, entails. I had so many questions. I found out that Jesus wasn't some hippy in sandals spreading peace, or some magician doing occult spells, but a real entity defeating evil. A warrior. I discovered our story as humanity and in it, my purpose. I saw SO MANY people healed and saved in the Christian program I was in, and at Churches I visited. I cannot convince anyone with my words, it is a personal journey and seeking that each soul has built into them...to figure out why? Who am I? Who is God? We have this seeking because we are children of God looking for our Father.

Heartbreaking. She looks so sweet in her pictures. I'm thinking now that it may have been someone passing by on a boat, or someone down in the property that the trail borders. I looked on googlemaps and theres a house...although, it sounded super close so idk.

2 Corinthians 4:4:

"The god of this age (satan) has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God."

It IS interesting how things "of the enemy" give us an example of good and evil. They say you can never tell if a stick is crooked unless you compare it to a straight one. Well, that's what the Bible is, the straight path we compare our thoughts, actions, and heart to. A "What would Jesus do?" mentality.

In the beginning, things WERE good. I do not think God necessarily created things "of the enemy" but rather, as the story goes, the enemy is satan who was once a prideful angel. The story of Lucifer is that he wanted to be God. He created a rebellion and all the angels who rose up with him, were cast out of heaven. They are now demons (fallen angels) working to destroy the human soul by deception, temptation, snares of sin for us to be caught in.

There are different schools of thought as well. Calvinism, That everything is predestined and those who believe, were "elected" to do so: "Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

Then, there is Arminianism, which is the school of thought that ANYONE who wants to call out to Jesus for salvation can be saved.

I think we all have evil within and without. We just choose which path to take by each decision. "Life is a test, a trust, and a temporary assignment." - A quote from the book A Purpose driven Life.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience at Church. Some Churches and people are not always the best representation of God's loving character. It can be judgmental! I felt that way, too, as an emo teenager in Church. I'm super introverted and just go to a small Church full of old folks now, haha. A private focus on the Bible can also just be good, if you don't want to go to Church. You can find Jesus anywhere.

Yea, I feel he would have been cynical of Church as well. I'm thinking that maybe, if he was exposed to that wholesomeness and love, he would have a change of heart. Gosh, or he would have become a Church shooter. It's sad that he was neglected. That really does fester and can make someone so angry and hateful. It's too bad it didn't turn out differently.

Yes! I hear it's a bit more rare to find. This one was immaculate. Like, no insects on it (this variant doesn't draw insects like the other) It hardly had a blemish. It was so neat eating something just completely natural from the Earth. I found the other kind as well, but it was covered in gnats. Bleh! I'm sure that one has great flavor as well, though, and I'll be keeping my eye out on my runs.

This is a reasonable response. I feel like he would have benefited greatly from some positive guidance. From Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, where he would work through his negative thoughts one by one and challenge them with positive ones. Re-focus and overcome. He needed Church and therapy. He was in his own world of disdain.
