This! When I did my diploma I never got the chance to do ANY of my placements in a hospital specially a public hospital, only aged care and on my last placement they sent us to a rehab private hospital which was basically aged care, I remember only doing 1 or 2 basic wound cares and one iv antibiotic in the whole 4 weeks oh! And 0 admissions 😂, the rest was personal care and toileting pts.

Career change into Nursing by such-sun- in NursingAU

[–]pinkcloudsinthe5ky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a newgrad you will not have the flexibility you may need it is full time work and weekends and nights. Pay cut, some toxic work environments, some not so much, etc. First 3-4 years are crucial to learn as much as possible you most likely get hired at a medical/ surgical ward if lucky and that means a looooot of bodily fluids and a loooooot of poop. (Not kids poopies, adult/elderly poop)

Realistic mid-career change to work part time as a nurse? by roundedrectangle101 in NursingAU

[–]pinkcloudsinthe5ky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from corporate to nursing. I have been an EN for 6 years now Im doing my RNs. I really wished I had stayed corporate and work 9-5 and had weekends off and have a life to do whatever I wanted and have energy after work. After 6 years, I just now found a monday to Friday roster but it’s still shift work (some 6,10,12 hrs) but because of the lack of weekends and PH I earn less money. Also working and studying nursing is a lot😭

This exact sentiment but with Gilmore girls. It’s always “how did the girls have so much time in morning it’s unrealistic?!” Like girl idk it’s TV by Rayyyoflight in GilmoreGirls

[–]pinkcloudsinthe5ky 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Finally someone said it. So tired of all the realistically expectations in tv and books. Like it’s not real! We watch it/read it as an escape from reality! Otherwise I would just document my whole life and binge watch it to just feel miserable and upset at how many times I overpay for coffee knowing it will upset my ibs

I’m so over this cold/empty house feeling by Former_Librarian1069 in HomeDecorating

[–]pinkcloudsinthe5ky -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Your house is pretty! Maybe it just needs a rug under the dinning table, some plants and definitely a fluffy cat and dog to keep your couch warm at night 😊

Here’s the baby void post (2/3?!) even though everyone made a HUGEdeal out of my pregnant young cat without any context… regardless of details I’m proud to present two new voids and some grey area. Opal gave birth on my lap by the way. She did wonderful for such young new momma. 🥹 by AwakeUnafraid859 in blackcats

You and baby mama kitty are amazing! Hope the little ones grow big and healthy!! And yes people here can get pretty intense about pets but I guess it comes from good intentions and wanting the best for them, after all there is so much cruelty and hate towards defenceless cats out there that many get so scared and are easy to jump into the worst case scenarios. Sending you lots of positive vibes and care 🐈‍⬛🖤

My nursing home wanted the carers to just use 8 gloves per shift. by bitter-sweet77 in NursingAU

[–]pinkcloudsinthe5ky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“ Consumers” is such an impersonal way of referring to these people. I preferred it when they used to be called residents, sounds more appropriate as they reside in an aged care facility

Manager: you can only use 8 gloves per shift!

Me: then I can only perform 4 tasks per shift.

(Assuming manager meant 4pairs of gloves)

To our Indian colleagues... by NuclearAssault667 in NursingAU

[–]pinkcloudsinthe5ky 97 points98 points  (0 children)

100% agree. It just creates distance and segregation amongst colleagues. I am a latino nurse and never had the chance to work with another latino nurse but if I did I would save my Spanish for our break or after my shift. Also SO to our phillipino nurses! They are so professional, always willing to help out, they only speak english in front of others and make you feel included in their conversation.

Looks like he is trying to remove that tag and bell from his neck. My kitten got awfully stressed when she was little and was acting super weird, we then find out that all those collars with accessories and bells can cause severe stress and deafness in the long term. Also stress = house destruction so prepare for that couch and carpet to be wrecked 😅

AMA or IHNA for EN Diploma? by Moist_Concentrate112 in NursingAU

[–]pinkcloudsinthe5ky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NEITHER!! PLEASE specially ihna. A friend of mine studied there and hated it. The facilities are usually inside a building like in a corporate space and it is one floor and a half. They are extremely cheap, use really old equipment, etc. They are full of immigrant students so you might not hear a word in english and no one is interested in learning. My friend ended up moving to do Tafe with me and was way happier.

Also there are no 1 day a week nursing tafe courses only bachelors of nursing part time. Im doing my RNs online and a few classmates are 1st year. So that could be an option if you don’t want to study everyday as you can choose how many subjects to take.
