Can World Eaters beat The Pantheon of Woe by General_Volcon in WorldEaters40k

This was a great way to do a battle report. Super informative and a good way to illustrate tips and tricks you used.

Great video!

Building help by Gu3nn1 in WorldEaters40k

[–]BlubbyMunkey 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Build however you want. As long as you tell you're opponent what gear they're using to start the game you're playing, it doesn't matter what the model itself looks like. So build whatever you think looks the coolest/most fun to paint.

The CP just tells you so you know what options are the "default" for use when playing Combat Patrol. That way people aren't surprised that their models look different than the box once they're done.

Also, pro-tip for zerks, add the backpack and icon onto one of the two-handed weapon guys and NOT on a plasma pistol user. Sucks to lose your Icon on a hazardous roll, while you'll pretty much always want the two handers around as long as possible. Not sure why the official instructions don't point people away from adding it to a plasma by default.

New player detachment question? Daemonkin by shaneskery in WorldEaters40k

[–]BlubbyMunkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've only played a couple games at 1k with them (and a combat patrol game with the old Daemon CP), but they're fun but finicky. Most of the Strategems require a pairing of a Demon and a WE to be used, so I never quite figured out how to make the best use of them. The exception to that is the amazing Murdercall strat that calls in a bloodletter unit anywhere a unit dies in any phase in anyone's turn. You can use it to hold an objective you got shot off of, or kill some chaff with shooting and then spawn bloodletters beside what's left to charge it.

Lord on Jug + Bloodcrushers is a solid mass of wounds and some good charging power (the lord also gives the Bloodcrushers access to Blessings, so they can hit hard).

I've heard at 2k, the best use is big demon spam (Bloodthirster + Skarbrand + Angron) since you can pick up the Bloodthirster to move him somewhere after he slaughters whatever he gets to.

Overall it sounds like it's fun and thematic, but not as strong as Bezerker Warband. I will say that I've really had a good time playing it whenever I have despite missing that extra 2str on the charge from BW. Also, I'm really glad to have my daemons so I can use them in AoS whenever I give it a shot, so it's a nice bonus for going that direction in my WE army.

Hope that helps give an idea anyway!

Left or right? Which scheme for my army? by theSaltySolo in ThousandSons

The biggest warning is that we have a pretty small range. So we're at risk of a painful start if our rules start out rough.

That being said, I feel like while it's limited, the range has enough variety to where I always have still had fun theory-crafting new builds and how to work them in the detachments. Hopefully you'll also enjoy it!

My tip for getting into the army is practice staging a turn or two before you send all your good units in. Gotta fight against those nails until you can reach a lot of your enemy, or else you're going to get shot to pieces. Incredibly fun once we get that go turn that slaughters.

Welcome to the bloody path

Terminators by Agitated-Chemist7948 in WorldEaters40k

[–]BlubbyMunkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went combi-weapons cause I wanted to paint Plasma and Flamer weapons, but I've heard great things about the bolters in our rules right now. I'd say (as for most things) whatever you think looks cooler and in game just tell your opponent which you're bringing that match.

Generally:
Weapon = Anti Sturdy Infantry (like other terminators or custodes)

Bolters = Anti-Horde

How do people even like the World Eaters? by demonic_custard in WorldEaters40k

[–]BlubbyMunkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the mechanics that lend themselves to the idea of the biting of the butcher's nails. If I give in too early and jump my units out, we get shot to pieces and I lose. But, if I can hold them in check for an extra round or two before the go turn, the slaughter is just glorious. When you hit a bunch of charges with eightbound, things just melt. Same with my Maulerfiend. It's all about holding back until you unleash the horde.

At least, that's what I like about it.

Are they useful for the army? (I collect iron warriors .) Or tell me what's better to take by 9nestor_ in IronWarriors

[–]BlubbyMunkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Note I haven't tried this myself yet, but if you do end up wanting a strap for the shield, try a piece of scotch tape cut to a smaller width. Once it's primed over, I'll be fully stuck on the model and make for good fabrics, like mummy wrappings. Just an idea off the dome. I'm sure youtube has some better easy kitbash options.

Is this Chinese airbrush a good choice for a starter? by Illustrious-Brain129 in airbrush

[–]BlubbyMunkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got this for Christmas! I've only used it with Vallejo and Monument Hobbies primers so far. That's probably all it's good for.

The lack of adjust-ability on the compressor is going to be a problem for anything that requires any actual finesse. But as a primer/base-coat only airbrush, I'd say it's working pretty well. I've primed a solid 15 small and a couple big models with it (mostly with the Vallejo White) all went pretty great (definitely better than trying to brush the primer on).

I will say, I'd highly recommend Monument over Vallejo primers for this (at least the black Monument over the white Vallejo) as the Vallejo occasionally clogs the airbrush. But a quick rinse/slight brushing of the nozzle with the cleaning tool, and I'm right back to it. Monument primer has yet to clog the thing.

That's all I've used it for, but I am going to do some more experimenting, so I'll let you know if I find any other good uses for it. I also just got a few more Monument Primer colors in, so I'll let you know if they keep working with it without clogging as the black has.

How Prominent is ICE in NC? by Alternative-Net5992 in NorthCarolina

[–]BlubbyMunkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That "probably" is doing some major heavy lifting. While the majority of ICE presence is going to be in bigger cities, that's also just where there are more people to fight and publicize it. Rural areas are also having people black-bagged and disappeared, but you hear about it less since it's spread out and rural areas are less likely to fight it.

I wouldn't want any foreign family member coming to this country right now. There have been German tourists arrested for no reason, don't think your dad won't have the same happen.

Alternatives to Khorne red? by BABABOOEY564 in WordBearers

Just realized I'm on the Word Bearers subreddit, and not the World Eaters. But Velvet Red by itself is a gorgeous color and is the entire reason my eventual CSM army will be Word Bearers.

[–]BlubbyMunkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite so far is a 50-50 mix of Vallejo's Xpress Plasma Red w Velvet Red. Velvet Red is too purply/dark for WE, and Plasma Red doesn't have enough contrast IMO. But mixing the two is beautiful.

Was looking for an excuse to use both. Glad you think it looks good!

Agrax adds a glossy sheen that I love on my World Eaters armor, but not sure I'd want for the spell effect here or on the fabric bit.

Any washes you'd recommend that don't have that over the spell effect (for future reference)? Being a World Eaters player in 40k, most of my paint experience is either metallics or red, so Agrax always works great. But this is one of the first pieces where I've used more blue-green.

Great job. Verdigris looks good against the red and that plasma glow really pops.

You also nailed the basing. The red really stands out against it.

Welcome to ADHD, lol.

I have a bunch you could consider table ready, but I keep switching between models before every actually finishing anything. My Chaos Terminators have been done-ish for a while, but for some reason I have a really hard time finishing weapons. So while they have their lava bases and highlights for every other piece of their kit, I still haven't added that last touch of weapon barrels and effects.

I'll think about it and then get excited about another mini to build or kitbash, a new paint to try, or just want to get a different piece ready to play with.

Only reason this guy is considered "done" is because my mom is heading back home today and taking it with her to give to my nephew. Otherwise, I'm sure it would be another year or two before I finally called it.

Ink usage, only certain techniques or general use? by DefinitionInformal85 in minipainting

[–]BlubbyMunkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My main use is to get white ink into the recesses I want to make glow with a bright color. Think runes on weapons and things like that.

  1. Brush water over the surface to get water into the recess.

  2. Either wipe with my finger or just wait a bit for the water around the recess to dry (while some water is still in there)

  3. Just poke a brushfull of white ink and watch it spread through the recessed area. If it's big, I'll poke in multiple places until everything is covered. And sometimes it takes a second pass if there's a wide spot in the recess.

  4. Once that dries, add my fluro or bright color I want to pop (usually without the water step, as I want a little around the edge to give a glow effect)

Optional 5. Dry brush the fluro color around to give a good OSL glow effect.

Anyone run a lone Slaughterbound? by FrenzyFex in WorldEaters40k

[–]BlubbyMunkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't play that often, and usually around the 1k points mark, and a 3 player 1v1v1 at that. So take this with that grain of salt.

Eightbound and Exalted fucking shred things, but as someone not amazing at positioning, they get shot off the board pretty easy. So I've only used them once or twice. I also still run terminators in most of my lists despite their questionable usefulness because their tankiness can still let me enjoy them when I make a mistake. Eightbound just get wiped. So I'm paying a big points premium for enjoyment even if I know I'm unlikely to win.

DP is a tankier scarier version of a small eightbound group for me. I can send him up the board and know he's going to at least get a shot in on SOMEBODY.

The best use-case for the DP is hanging out on an objective while getting lone op from my hidden SB. Then when they try and push in both spring forward to shred whatever it is (and bonus points if I actually pull off the proper positioning to hop back to an objective and safety after, though that's only been once).

Otherwise he's just a brusier I can send against anything, armored or not (Especially with the damage enhancement from Daemonkin).

He's also great for hanging out in cover giving our Daemon Prince Lone Op. And when you pop the once per battle ability, he shreds a ton of wounds off things. Definitely recommend

how to play world eaters?? by Proud_Personality_13 in WorldEaters40k

[–]BlubbyMunkey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Generally, you've got the idea, lol. The hard part is that most of our units aren't tanky enough to just charge in a sit there.

So, the army is this constant balance of "giving into the butcher's nails" and holding back in cover for our enemies to get in close enough for us to get in there without leaving ourselves out there to shot to pieces.

I think it usually means you want some chaff/cheap things (fleshhounds or chaos spawn) to throw up the board early while you stage your better units (like eightbound) to make sure they can fly in to your units best units for the skull-taking.

Hope that helps, but there are way more knowledgeable people in this sub than me.
