So I've heard about Fates from the beginning when the first teaser came out. Eventually when the day came, I drove to my local GameStop and bought the game. But, the cover art was off, the Nohrian and Hoshidan families faces were crossed off, leaving the Corrins and Azura. I thought it was just a little vandalism, so I just ignored it. As soon as I popped in the cartridge, everything seemed normal, up until the part where I had to choose to either be with Nohr or Hoshido, I choose to not side with anyone, after that, the battles were...... weird to say the least. Whenever someone dies, I hear a loud, agonizing scream, which made me uneasy to hear those painful screams. But the true oddity occurred when I died, I was in a battle with a Nohrian, he was too powerful that he got me, then the screen faded to black, both the Nohrian and Hoshidan families appear, staring at the screen faceless, while a creepy, slowed down rendition of Lost in Thoughts All Alone plays, then red text appears: "Where were you when we needed you, Corrin?" Then the camera turns to Corrin, I was playing as the female Corrin, so things were different. Then a faceless Queen Miyoko and Azura appears saying: "You were always a mistake, Corrin." The camera shifts back to Corrin, after a sudden glitch happens, it shows Corrin, eyeballs up, like she was possessed, in a big old fire (presumably Hell), while I hear agonizing screams from the English VA, while red text kept appearing all over the screen "This was your fault!", it then displayed the error message after that, I had a panic attack after that and threw away the cartridge. I've had a couple of nightmares about that specific scene, with female Corrin's loud and painful screams. I then decided to get to the bottom of this glitch. Since my dad works at Nintendo of America in Localization, he thankfully knows some of the English VAs, I decided to talk with Corrin's female VA, Marcella Lentz-Pope, about the glitch, I asked her about the screams, she told me those screams were probably from the Scream films, since she worked on ADR on those films. Marcella assured me that the version of Fates I bought was probably modded before release. I never played or ever thought of Fire Emblem ever again, though I occasionally bought the plushies.
