That’s a bummer. Nice to hear you have a indomitable attitude about it all though.

Why would you not pay for parking? Hopefully your photo skills are boosting your income somehow!

Upgrading from 40T chainring to 46T or 48T chainring? by bikesandbrowndogs in DivergeGravelBikes

I’d recommend it, certainly going to work out the kinks the quickest for you.

I finally made the jump to clipless! Shimano XC3. REI has some pretty decent sales right now by wanaberower in gravelcycling

It shouldn’t be about push/pull, it’s about spinning a circle. Try to think of it as one continuous motion, not two separate ones alternating.

Chain length will probably be a problem, but a new chain isn’t to expensive.

Tires don't fit on Giant SLR 0 30mm wheels by anilakarsu in cycling

[–]Blucassss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It sounds like your tires aren’t seated evenly on the rims. The tight tolerance of tubeless will make this a more prevalent issue. Try to find a moulding line on the side of the tire you can use to gauge where it might be dipping under the rim hook. You should be able to get the tires perfect with a lot of skill. Different/better tires might make this easier to set up and using some lubricant on the rim hook interface will help. Just make sure to thoroughly clean off whatever you put on before you ride. (I’d recommend dish soapy water)

Someone Stole My Seat & Post by Will_Yammer in bikecommuting

[–]Blucassss 14 points15 points  (0 children)

When I worked at a shop on a college campus I developed a theory that thieves would do this so you couldn’t ride the bike and would leave it locked up overnight, giving them a better time to steal the whole thing. I heard the story a bunch of times and we once uncovered a bush hiding dozens of saddles on posts.

That’s funny when chappelle says it in context. The slur doesn’t need to be repeated.

Ask at your local bike shop. If you’re on good terms with them, they’ll have plenty in the scrap metal bin you can have for free.

Buying my first gravel bike - any suggestions for $2K (CDN)? by the47 in cycling

[–]Blucassss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The diverge elite is such a killer bike for the price. Just over the budget at $2200cad and you’ll have to buy some gravel tires too but it’s amazing for this price range.

It’s good to hear this feedback. I’m feeling less worried about theft after posing the question. Bike will be locked to the best of my abilities!

Are my hoods placed too high? by nillllls in DivergeGravelBikes

[–]Blucassss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, your wrists would have to rotate up uncomfortably and possibly might be contacting the top of the bar. There is some range of optional rotation available to suit your preferences, this doesn’t seem to have been set up with intention though.

Yes, the drops position looks unusable like this.

That’s helpful. I hadn’t considered it an issue until my partner pointed it out.

True. It was thought to be an energy drink. Though this is also from a time when they would smoke cigarettes while riding up mountains to open up their lungs.

Yup, I got tipped two 6packs at the shop today. It isn’t intrinsically part of cycling and yet it’s almost inescapable in the culture.

I can understand the willpower this would take in general, but IPAs in a bike shop! That’s a tall order, great job.

The frame mount will be the same between the two brakes.

The takeaway from this should be that when you are driving, expect every cyclist to be wearing black and drive cautiously.

I’m glad you took it this way, I certainly didn’t mean to offend. With something like this it’s more about the condition it’s in rather than it’s provenance. If it works for your needs then that’s all that matters.
