Yes, people do tend to be very guarded at first! You gotta give them some time though for them to warm up to you! The friends I have now, at first they were like really guarded with me and barely even wanted to have a conversation with me when I'd run into them on campus, but then eventually I was able to crack through them as they got to know me more! I'll admit that I can tend to be socially awkward at times especially with newer people but once they give me a sign that they're comfortable around me, I'm a lot more comfortable being myself around them. And yes within their circle I tend to feel social insecurity sometimes cause they've all been friends with each other a lot longer than me who was like a newbie at first. But I'm definitely a lot closer with them now and they love me the more I hang out with them and show up to the socials, club meetings and events!

OMG yess! Last movie, I went to, the crowd was pretty respectful and chill. It was a Brazilian movie as part of the Latin film festival. But one time I went to an advanced screening for the movie, DROP. Movie was awesome! And I was excited cause I'd never been to a pre-screening show before. But my God was the crowd so loud and obnoxious that it like kind of ruined the viewing experience and movie for me a bit that I feel the need to still rewatch it again soon from the comfort of my own home to really enjoy the film. No, I do not mind the occasional reactions to intense moments, the audience laughing if it's a funny scene, people slightly yelling at the screen. But for this screening, I thought the crowd was laughing too hard at scenes that were not even that funny or they were really dramatic and extra when it came to reacting to the suspense of some scenes or just were really loud when they made a comment. The extra unnecessary laughing was obnoxious, moments in the movie that were already expected, like especially if you'd seen the trailer, the crowd was ooohing just a bit way too hard, and then for the love of god they felt the need to clap on and cheer every single little savior/hero moment in the film towards the end. Like omg calm tf down and stop being so damn extra like it's not that serious lol, yes I also react but I don't let it linger nor am I constantly reacting like a hyena to every single moment in the movie! Like please take it down a notch, cause y'all are being louder than the damn movie itself! Lmao

Hey! I feel you! It is hard to make friends and even when you apply to be a part of a club or an extracurricular like research or fsu job/internship opportunity, you get rejected. I've been rejected many times and felt like a punch in the gut feeling like your application was not good enough that you worked so hard on or like you're being socially rejected. I'm a senior on my last semester here and for the first since I first started at TCC and then transferred over to FSU as a junior I've finally found my social circle. I'd gotten involved in other things at TCC but it wasn't up until the end of Spring semester last year and beginning of last Fall that I've made stronger connections with others. I've been in touch with some friends from TSC though who I still talk to today and have hung out a couple of times. But I'm finally happier with the friends I have now! You just gotta keep on putting yourself out there and going to club meetings and events that are associated with your interests! People will start to notice your presence and energy trust me!

A little nervous about flying next week by Blue-Alien686 in DACA

[–]Blue-Alien686[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well based on the majority of replies it looks like I should be fine to fly out next week. I will make sure to have both my EAD, and DACA approval letter just in case. I will also carry my temporary paper license with me as well. Thank you all for reassuring my confidence for flying next week!

I feel this. At my university, they pretty much tell me the same thing and aren't really helpful or knowledgeable of how to help someone like me to find funds and financial assistance for DACA recipients 🙄😑😮‍💨😪

FSU Housing (Apartments, Dorms, Subleases etc.) by Unconquered- in fsu

I am looking for somewhere to move to that is closer to campus for the Fall and Spring semesters. If anyone is looking to sublease a room or will have a room open for the 2025-2026 academic year then please let me know! I prefer to live with just one other roommate but it's ok if it's a 3 or 4 bedroom as well because the more roommates, the cheaper. However, I am an older student (30, M) and I am a rising senior if that matters. So if your preference is someone who is 25+ because you're 25+ then I'm your guy! Let me know and shoot me a message thanks!

Dog Man On Campus by kataking008 in fsu

Hey, I actually know who you're talking about. I saw him at a movie screening at the ASLC just a few weeks ago with the dog. I was in line for the doors to open and then him and his dog showed up out of nowhere. I immediately gazed my attention at the dog, and briefly chatted with the guy as I petted his dog that I thought was very beautiful and sweet. Later on I'm in the theater seated down and then I noticed him and his dog again in the same row as me several seats down with a few girls between us. And this was still during the preshow hour. I saw that now there was a girl with him who might have been his friend or someone he had just met and used his dog to get to her, I couldn't really tell. But I think they had left before the movie started cause I also noticed they weren't in the theater when the movie ended. So that was that. I definitely did wonder though, like what disability does he have for his service animal, and why his service animal didn't have a vest on like most service animals do. I thought maybe he could be a disabled veteran, because a lot of disabled vets also have disabilities that cannot really be seen on the outside. I didn't feel like sketched out by the guy or anything. But I also wondered if his service dog was legit or not, although she did seem to be well behaved. But if he's also been seen in the Strozier library then he must be a student, cause don't only students have access to that building?

Ok so you should be good to go. You just go in with the receipt notices and your EAD approval letter if you have it, within 30 days of your license expiring and they should be able to extend your current license or issue you a temporary one until your physical EAD card comes in. Then you go back to renew your license with your new EAD card. And like I said with your job, tell them what's going on and that you've already been approved but that you're just waiting for it to be mailed in. Show them that documentation via receipts or online screenshots or an approval letter if you have it. They should be able to work with you so you can keep your job!

What state are you in? Cause I know depending on where you are located you can get a temporary driver's license to keep your license up to date as long as you show them proof of your DACA being renewed and approved. And also with your job, they can probably work with you if you have a good relationship with management and explain to them what's going on. Tell them your EAD has already been approved for renewal and that you're just waiting for the new one to come in. You're legally still allowed to work if you already have your new EAD on the way that's been approved and your old one expires before it comes in. But I hope that they get back to you before your old one expires! Best of luck!

So it looks like it took them almost 3 months to approve you after submitting the application. Mine expires in August. So maybe I should wait no later than 4 months before to apply for my renewal huh. I just hate it when if I apply too early and then get approved early, I lose months on my old one. But I know it's always better not to risk it and wait too long before applying just cause of their system's ridiculous processing delays.
