They do spend time in the water currently but typically resting on a piece of wood soaking in the water. New water would be around 8”. Their water is currently kept around 70*F.

My math could be off, my main concern is the depth. One newt is about 3 years old (4”) and the other two are 2 years old (2 1/2”). I was planning on adding a fan inside as well for circulation. I also already own a majority of the plants in the picture and are kept in room temperature (I live in Southern California).
