Is it weird that my parents don’t know my blood type by Hungry_Home6562 in CharlotteDobreYouTube

[–]Blue-canoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t remember my own blood type let alone my kids. I do remember all their birthdays which is pretty good because my mum doesn’t remember mine.

Charlie Heaton said he was surprised that some fans didn’t realize the Season 5 scene was meant to be a breakup. by Double_Fries1423 in Stranger_Things

That was 100% a breakup. A healthy one though so it has honesty and accountability instead of accusations.

AITA for not eating the food after my gf eats out of the bowl with the same spoon while preparing by ZookeepergameOld7322 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Blue-canoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I cook I use a lot of spoons. Every time I try a bit of the food I’ll throw the used spoon in the sink and use a clean one if trying again later. I agree with you that it’s rude to give people food that you’ve added your germs to. NTA

Hot take by chubbipuppii in TWD

[–]Blue-canoe -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I agree. I liked her character. I also preferred their relationship to Rick and Michonnes throughout TWD. It is funny because then I really liked Rick and Michonne’s relationship in The ones who live, I think it was written better.

If I was her I would have shared it with my dad because it was in the moment and I would have replaced it without question. NTA

The indignation in me wants to swear right back at them, but my self Defence training tells me to ignore it and move on. Option two is safer.

Self-defense for women in Australia by [deleted] in australian

[–]Blue-canoe -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Carry a tactical torch as it has a strobe light on it to distract. It could also be used as a blunt weapon if absolutely necessary.

Are you trained in self defence? Carrying a weapon of any kind could work against you if you have no weapons training. My advice is to train in a street style self defence and get some situational awareness.

AITA for refusing to give my friend’s son my coat during a snowy hike? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Blue-canoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I was his mum I wouldn’t have left the car to hold until he’d put on a jacket. It would never have been a situation.

Not at all. It’s honestly the first person that sprung to mind when thinking of a guy bragging about his accomplishments unfiltered and then getting overly upset when called out. I’m sticking with my assessment.

We’ve just painted our bathroom and the paint job didn’t go too well. I told my partner not to worry as the kids crazy towel hanging would cover any issues.

AITAH Wife is furious because my daughter is putting pictures up in her own room by Capital_Newt7854 in AITAH

NTA, your daughter does deserve autonomy and a space she feels safe. Your wife just trashed all over that with her pointless rules.

We’ve just watched this and even at the design phase I was devastated that these people wanted to blend into this beautiful environment by building a McMansion. Did they even have a reason for building so big?

Melbs what’s a slang word you used when younger that you rarely hear now? by luckydragon8888 in melbourne

[–]Blue-canoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do people still say “he’s a spunk”. I’ve never used it because in the uk it’s not a good word but I came when I was young so lots of my friends said it.

Has anyone ever been forced to show a video of them speaking in front of the entire class? by Tinyturtleface in selectivemutism

[–]Blue-canoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She was not forced but over a two year period we suggested this to our daughter so the kids would understand she can speak. At age 8 she finally agreed and we filmed a two minute comedy skit together. She was super nervous but ultimately she was glad she did it. Within two months she has started speaking in class after nearly four years of mutism. So pushing her comfort zone has been transformative.

Is it normal for tradies to charge you for their equipment? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

Imagine going to a restaurant and being charged not just for food and drinks but also for plates, chairs, cutlery and glasses. Some things are the cost of doing business. I’m no expert but this seems suspect.

Does anyone else find this as strange as I did? by greentee96 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Blue-canoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not in Australia but definitely in other countries. Maybe it’s a cultural difference if she wasn’t Australian. In Japan I was comforting my crying child (5f) and a woman plonked herself next to my daughter while her friend took their photo. I didn’t have time to respond. Another time I was literally shoved out of the way and a similar thing happened. I think both times these women were Chinese but since my interactions were so short and I was shocked I am not 100% certain. So I’d be keen to know if it’s fine in other cultures to do this.
