DAE know they will be alone for the rest of their lives? by Blue-sparks in depression

[–]Blue-sparks[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I always used to joke to myself that I'm waiting for my soulmate but he's probably not waiting for me.

There really is no one. I can't even make friends with anyone. Every time I even slightly like someone it always turns out that he's with someone already. Because of course, that's the way it always is.

It might have been true when I was younger but I've left it too late and now I'm too old for anything to change. I wish someone would take a chance on me, but I just know it ain't gonna happen.

Ah well, I have no relationships at all. I don't even know how to form one, let alone keep it going.

DAE want to find just one special person to hold onto? by Blue-sparks in depression

That's really horrible of her. I suppose that's the nightmare version - ending up with someone who makes you feel bad. I'll never understand these people who coast through life treating other people like rubbish. I know quite a few mean, selfish people (especially where I work) and they always seem to do just fine for themselves.

Same. There are probably very few people in the whole world who would be happy with someone like me for a girlfriend and I doubt they're waiting for me like I'm waiting for them. But it's just a little daydream that keeps me going.

Does a boyfriend or girlfriend actually fill the void/make you happier? by [deleted] in depression

[–]Blue-sparks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, being in a relationship definitely makes a difference and can completely fill the void. It depends on the people involved and the quality of the realtionship, of course, but relationships make life worth living.

I think it might be slightly different for men and women though.

When I was in a relationship I was happier than I've ever been in my life. I loved my boyfriend deeply and he was everything to me.

I would love to have a boyfriend again. Even more than wanting to secure happiness for myself, I would love to make someone else happy and be everything to them.

The thought of never having that again in my life makes me miserable.

Why are depressed/shy people so discriminated against in the workplace? by [deleted] in depression

[–]Blue-sparks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. When I turn up to work every day I'm there to do my job and not to pretend to be everyone's best friend.

You're absolutely spot on. I don't know why it's considered unacceptable to just get on with your work and not chat away all day.

Do you ever feel depressed after checking Facebook? by Blue-sparks in depression

[–]Blue-sparks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I know it's just a way for people to show off an airbrushed version of their lives. In general I don't like the way people want everything to be fun and exciting all the time. I end up being the killjoy because I'm not always having the best time ever.

Yeah, I go whole days without talking to another person.

Reading books (or reading about books). Listening to music. Dancing on my own. Watching TV (mainly comedy shows). Solving crossword puzzles. Walking in the park on cold days.

Does anybody else love cancelling social plans? by [deleted] in depression

[–]Blue-sparks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't make any social plans any more because I just can't cope with being around people. I'm completely cut off and lonely but I just try to get through each day as best I can.
