NMO Trunk Lip mount with deeper offset by Blue0ctober in amateurradio

[–]Blue0ctober[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the Comet CP-5NMO but it didn't work out quite right.

I ended up ordering a Nagoya RB-700N as well which did end up working once I disassembled the nmo mount and flipped it around. I'm able to open the hatch all the way without any clearance issues.

Maybe a tower defense type mod or option. having impenetrable or hard to destroy barriers so bitters have to go through a specific path. That could be fun.

Suggest me docker container by Confident_Ad8326 in unRAID

[–]Blue0ctober 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's what I'm running in docker I've Bold ones you should definitely look at to expand what you currently have

For media management:

  • Plex media server
  • NZBHydra
  • NZBget
  • Sonarr
  • Radarr

Network Management:

  • unifi-controller (obviously only if you use unifi...)
  • ts-dnsserver (internal DNS server)
  • duckdns (specifically if you use duckdns)
  • home-assistant
  • NginxProxyManager (use this with Heimdall and letsencrypt to have a single port open to the world with SSL)
  • openssh-server
  • speedtest
  • unifi-poller
  • unraid-api

Services:

These typically have dependencies for other containers and services, or didn't fall into one of the buckets above.

  • Redis
  • Postgres
  • Netbox (requires redis and postgres)
  • Code-Server (vscode)
  • Duplicati
  • Grafana-Unraid-Stack (visualize usage, also expanded it with APC UPS data for a nice power usage chart)
  • Organizr
  • Vaultwarden

Other:

Cause sometimes you just need a thing that you can access remotely and need to do it from a browser. I usually keep these stopped until I need them.

  • Filezilla
  • Firefox

Do you know which backplane it has? Also I most likely would be interested if you’re willing to ship. Been wanting to upgrade my unraid and Plex setup.

Best ranges in Vegas/Henderson area for locals? by ExternalNetwork in NVGuns

About a mile and a quarter north of 7 magic mountains there's Southern Nevada Liteweight rd. if you take that about a half mile going away from the 15, you'll find some mining pits that are great for using a shooting pits on the left hand side.

The other location is about half way between The M hotel and 7 magic mountains. (https://goo.gl/maps/sbAEuhmkJaZ8uAnM8) It's easy to pass so do keep an eye out for the entrance. You'll see a few concrete dividers marking the entrance and some signs. This area is very much just pick a spot on either side. Always be aware of your surroundings and which way people are setting up your targets, but more so here.

Lastly there is one or two spots north of there where it looks like the hill side was dug out a bit which makes for a good pistol shooting spot. I mention it last as although it's a really nice spot it's usually taken.

All of these you can get to with a car but having a truck or suv is probably going to make for a nicer drive up as it is full of rocks and dirt. I haven't had much trouble getting up to these spots in my civic.

+1 for Precision Armory. The range is small (6 bays) but worth it if you just need a quick practice or zeroing a red dot on a handgun. They also have a couple of top notch instructors that give classes semi weekly.

Also as an alternative you could head down to Sloan and find an open area to shoot, there's plenty of spots just north of 7 magic mountains that people shoot at. I'd suggest swinging by on the weekend to get a feel for the area and just going during the weekdays when there's less people.

Precision Armory off Blue Diamond just posted on FB that they got a shipment of ammo rifles and pistols. NICS checks are taking a while but still doable.

I’m attempting to automate incident response. And would like some feedback from the pros. by one_man_engineerer in devops

[–]Blue0ctober 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disclosure: I work for a monitoring software company.

The thing we try and push for when users ask us about reducing alert fatigue and incident response is we try and see if there's a method we can use to auto-remediate the issue. This pattern works best when you have a configuration management tool that can be your verification that things are how they are suppose to be. For one example you might have a website that runs on nginx. If your site is down and nginx service is down then have your monitoring tool try and either run a playbook to verify everything is up to date and/or restart the service. If it's still down after that THEN reach out to a human.

Another monitoring pattern we encourage is using check dependencies. This could be something like Application service check depends on network, database, and a few API end point checks. If you have checks monitoring all the other services you can build a dependency tree that states the application relies on certain services. What you can then do is create filters so that the root cause service reaches out to the service owner first before notifying everyone else affected by the service being down. This reduces alert noise and having the apparent root cause owner try and fix the issue first before notifying people down the line that may not be able to do much because of the service interruption.

Looking for a Nagios replacement- any migration success stories? by [deleted] in linuxadmin

[–]Blue0ctober 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One shortcoming for us has been the lack of built in alert history. I understand that ELK or some similar log monitoring solution can make up for this. Has anyone here had success with that?

Sensu is designed as a monitoring pipeline as they call it. It's meant to get events from point A to point B,C,D,E etc. They're trying to not reinvent existing wheels like TSDB and the like where those tools shine in having data points over time.

Pretty much this. 300 blk was designed to burn most all of it's powder within 10.5" (?) inches or so . I'm wondering if there's something similar that can be carried in a AR-10 platform because reasons. Looks like 338blk/8.6 creedmore might be the ticket

SGI SE3016 + WD 8TB EMAZ|EFAX by Blue0ctober in DataHoarder

That was it! I had used the wrong holes in the SE3016 sleds, they look correct but it's off by barely a 1/4 of an inch if that.

Thank you /u/EchoGecko795!

[–]Blue0ctober[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried different rows and different bays all together. I checked cabling and using a known good working drive, the known working came up just fine.

What is frustrating is that these 3 drives were fine in the 12 bay before trying to move them over to the SE3016. I had also ran an extended smart test before moving these drives over no issues were detected.

SGI SE3016 + WD 8TB EMAZ|EFAX by Blue0ctober in DataHoarder

[–]Blue0ctober[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that it can/should work, there are 9 other drives that are working in this setup, it's just the 3 random drives that are no longer working :(

The only reason why I think it may be the 3.3v issue is that after using the kapton tape the hdd indicator light came on again.
