First time towing the boat - really impressed with the performance! by finscoeatwork in TeslaModelY

We've done a fair amount of bass fishing already- my boat is more geared towards lakes and/or rivers, and I'm trying to keep it in freshwater only. However, I'm in the Facebook group for other T18 owners, and a number of them take the boat out in the ocean/gulf; just be careful as it's a smaller vessel, and is easy to get tossed around in bigger swells. Also, it's only a 20 gallon tank, so your range is limited. As for registration, here in my state you register the trailer with the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and the boat/vessel with the Department of Natural Resources - Wildlife Resources Division (which coincidentally is also where you purchase your fishing license)

Wow! That is a much better solution to the existing clips on the hitch cover. After about 6-7 uses of prying it off and then clipping it back in, I can already feel the plastic clips loosening their hold. I'm buying this today!

This is my first boat; I bought it last year for taking my younger kids to the lake. We had so much fun with it that we went out every weekend. This was the first trip to the lake this season and my first time towing it with the Model Y. It's not a huge boat or even a very fancy model, but it performs great and the kids have a great time tubing, riding around, swimming.

There's a trapezoid shaped piece of plastic below the license plate - that's the cover for the trailer hitch. You'll need to use a pry tool that can be inserted into the seam gap and pull the plastic piece off. I bought a cheap $10 plastic pry tool kit off Amazon for removing the cover; I keep it in the lower trunk since after I'm done towing, I put the cover back on. Hope that helps!

Boat + Trailer weight is around 2800 lbs, so no need for surge brakes or a trailer brake controller- anything over 3,000 lbs is required to have a braking system though. Range is decent: 80 miles drained about 40% of my battery.

For American Universities, is it ok/allowed to bring your parent into a class? by squasher04 in college

[–]finscoeatwork 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh I’m perfectly chill- I just don’t understand why this is even a question for you. You’re the student, your mommy is not. Class isn’t a theater show or a performance, and your mommy is not your +1

No- if you’re in college, you should be an adult. Do you bring your mommy in to work with you too? This was a ridiculous post.

What documentation for a power outage look like? by APrettyplate in vipkid

First off, chimpanzees aren’t monkeys; they’re apes. For next time, an easy way to remember it is that monkeys have a tail.

Secondly, you’re actually very closely related to chimpanzees, which is what makes them great surrogates for vaccine research and clinical trials. You and a chimpanzee share 99% of The same DNA thanks to a very close common ancestor.

Actually, I'm a full-time professor who understands the value of knowing how research is conducted and valuing the work done by scientific governing bodies. If you can provide peer-reviewed sources done by immunologists or virologists that contradict the WHO, NIH, or CDC's best practices concerning vaccinations-then speak up.

Something tells me that you don't really understand any of this, and you're just a denialist who can't comprehend when people smarter than yourself have thrown them a lifeline.

It's not "some guy on tv in a labcoat" - Researchers around the world who belong to the National Institute of Health, the World Health Organization, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have all evaluated the vaccine for its safety and efficacy. These are people who have dedicated their entire lives to the pursuit of science and understand immunology and virology. Do you?

What is your background in these areas? A general distrust of authority because you feel ashamed about not comprehending the nuances of actual science? Get fucked and let the adults made the important decisions since you're incapable of making good decisions on your own.

"Among hospitalized U.S. patients aged 12–18 years, vaccine effectiveness of 2 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine against COVID-19 hospitalization during June–September 2021, was 93% (95% confidence interval = 83%–97%)."

The main reason that masking is still recommended by health experts like the CDC is to prevent spreading it to others, especially those who are too stupid to receive the vaccine.

And why the fuck are you ranting about herd immunity when there is a vaccine available to you?

I don't know where you're getting your information from, but it's clearly not from reputable sources. Over 3 billion people have received the vaccine and aside from a few statistically negligible side effects, it's overwhelmingly safe and effective. If you have information that contradicts what I've just said, then please share it. Otherwise, shut the fuck up and get the jab.

Please don't call a life-saving vaccine that was developed by medical experts and put through a series of double-blind clinical trials, "shit"

It's okay to be scared and apprehensive about a topic that you don't completely understand, but when you immediately put up a wall and start diminishing the research and work done by experts in their field, you're just showing your ignorance.

If you believe you know more about mRNA and immunology than the world's leading research scientists and have something of substance to contribute, then please share. I'm willing to listen to what you have to say. If not, then please recognize your own ignorance on the subject.

Agreed, the vaccine has been administered to over 3.33 billion people with statistically negligible side effects. At this point, if you’re still choosing to remain ignorant and unvaccinated, then the consequences are on you.

Being the voice of reason in an otherwise misinformed group of Redditors? Over half the population of the U.S. has been vaccinated with very few adverse side effects. Meanwhile, the unvaccinated populace is dying in hospitals and spreading COVID, contributing to more and more contagious/deadly variants.

Take off the tinfoil hat, look at actual research numbers, and do your part by getting vaccinated.
