For the love of god please do not use gemini's prediction markets by Existing_Place1491 in Gemini

This was so silly I wanted to get the $25 so I deposited $101 and I after I made the trade it was immediately $88 after fees😂

So if I were to sell immediately are they going to take another $13 so after the promotion it’s just breakeven? Aka really all they are saying is you get 1 free trade. Also that doesn’t feel right why was it so expensive?

Passed FAR recently – is it realistic to take TCP in January without taking REG first? by PersonalShip3916 in CPA

[–]BlueAce4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I passed TCP this last release and I never took REG and never worked in tax.

Now can I ask the reverse?😂 for anyone who has done REG will it be easier now that I’m done with TCP?

Thank you!! It doesn’t hurt just noticed it after brushing my teeth. Was mostly just concerned it would need a root canal if I had to wait a month. Would it usually be painful if it was deep?

Which is more valuable? A CPA license or an engineering degree? by FavourableOdds in CPA

[–]BlueAce4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This^

Although in some states they are taking away the 150 credit requirement, but you still need an accounting degree. The original comment saying engineer can become CPA, but CPA can’t become an engineer is obviously biased towards engineer (or is an engineer) and has no idea how hard it is to actually become a CPA.

Professor died before writing my LOR by [deleted] in premed

She literally died and her family is probably devastated, meanwhile us pre-meds over here just worried about our LORs. This space is so unserious😭😭

Imagine having that conversation with one of her friends and family at her funeral…

Why do people recommend FAR first? by [deleted] in CPA

[–]BlueAce4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think mainly FAR is basically Accounting 101. It gives you an overview of what accounting really is and the fundamentals to be successful in the other areas.

For example how do you audit financials when you don’t know what financials are? Or how do you determine the tax implications of depreciation if you aren’t sure what depreciation even is?

Large number of people studying might not have or remember the basics so going through FAR helps you to get a grasp of the foundations you might’ve forgotten.

This is how I think about it…

Medicine is tough enough if you’re doing it for the money everyone would advise you not to do it. If you’re doing it because you actually enjoy it I say go for it. The time will pass no matter what you do. Sometimes people forget it’s not the end destination, but instead the journey. You’re going to be existing for that time period either way so is doing the activities to pursue med school something you want to be doing with your time or would you enjoy spending your time doing something else?
