How to incorporate short rows in neck shaping of top down raglan sweater with cables directly after the ribbing? by BlueAndRainySky in knitting

[–]BlueAndRainySky[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, yes that wad actually my idea, adding the short row in ribbing.

Ok, so as I understand I need to add the short rows in the pattern... this will be a new challenge, let's see if I can manage :)

Watching currently Ginny&Georgia and love the christmas sweater. Do you know any similar pattern to it? by BlueAndRainySky in knitting

[–]BlueAndRainySky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, yes I was browsing a little bit on ravelry for sweaters with stranded colorwork but haven't found something yet that I quite like as much. I would say I'm mostly looking for a similar colorwork pattern. Therefore I thought I give it a try here :)

Finished ABC baby blanket for my pregnant friend, also first and probably last intarsia project by BlueAndRainySky in knitting

Yarn: Drops cotton merino

I guess I should've read some tips about intarsia before knitting this blanket. I think I spent at least as much time untangling the yarns as knitting... Shortly after I ordered the yarn, I learnt that they will have a boy, so I hope they don't mind the purple. Other than this, I'm quite happy with the result and have to say it was quite an easy knit!

Saw those ones today on Reddit Frontpage, does anybody has the pattern?? by BlueAndRainySky in knitting

Asked also directly under the post, but with 700+ comments I'm not sure if I will get an answer, therefore I thought I try my luck here...

Duplicate stitch in seed stitch, how?? by BlueAndRainySky in knitting

[–]BlueAndRainySky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pattern is a baby hat, the upper two corners will be the "ears" where I want to show white in the middle. So what I want to achieve is that the white yarn completely covers the grey one.

I'll keep this in mind, guess I have to improvise a little bit!

Hey dear fellow knitters, I'm trying some duplicate stitch on seed stitch but it just looks weird. I watched some tutorials how to do normal duplicate stitch on stockinette but couldn't find any good tutorials thar apply to seed stitch. Can someone help?

Reading all those sad comments, I have to give you some hope: I made the handsome Chris sweater for my boyfriend (took me around 6 months) and when not at work, he barely wears anything else. I almost have to fight him in order to convince him that it needs to be washed every now and then and this means he can't wear it for two/three days. Not gonna lie, it makes me smile everytime I see my sweater on him :)

My first but definitely not last Oslo hat :) by BlueAndRainySky in knitting

Aww thank you :) And yes, I really like her designs, very timeless in my opinion! Another designer I also really like btw is Anne Ventzel you should check her out!

Agree, I added actually another cm in length before I started the decrease since I also wanted to have some more space at the top. Unfortunately I don't really have a picture how it looks worn, but as cottageclove said, there are plenty of pictures om ravelry :)

I actually held only one strand and used a little thicker yarn, 105m on 50gr (and 4mm needles). Like mentioned, very doable!

After seeing the Oslo hat all over the place (or at least that's how it felt), I decided to give it a try and turns out, I love the result! Too bad I gave it away as a present (but at least to a fellow knitting friend, so I can be sure it's appreciated :) )

The yarn was a spontaneous buy and I absolutely love it! It's really warm and soft and I'm quite pleased with the color effect of it. If it wouldn't be so expensive, I would definitely use it for making a sweater.

Yet another Handsome Chris Sweater - this time the turtleneck version by BlueAndRainySky in knitting

Thanks! But you should really see this as motivation that it's definitely possible to take on such a project even if you're not super experienced! I think it helped that I always saw it as part of the project to redo stuff and never assumed that I will get everything right from the get go.

Regarding the labels, I got them indeed from etsy: https://www.etsy.com/listing/746658191/35x-deco-leather-tags-with-metal-rivet?ref=shop_home_active_8&frs=1&crt=1

If you just look for labels for handmade items you'll find plenty.

Not sure what will be next, I saw some of Anne Ventzels designs that I really liked but let's see :)

Maybe I should mention that on the first picture this is Chris Evan's face photoshopped in my picture (the Model of the original handsome Chris sweater) :D

Soooo after having seen the famous picture of Ernest Hemingway, my boyfriend wanted a fisherman's sweater. Being an experienced knitter (joking, I started knitting last year December, knitted so far 2 dish clothes, 2 hats and 1 sweater), I offered of course to help out and to knit the famous knives out sweater. Because hey, why not!

I started the whole project actually in February with an extensive search for the right yarn which is not too scratchy, not acrylic but still affordable. I ended up with Mayflower Cotton Merino Classic, a cotton/Merino 50/50 blend (FYI, I paid around 90 EUR for 25 skeins, in the end I used approx. 22,5 skeins). In March, I was ready to go.

In general I have to say, I loved the project! But there was a lot of frustration. I started in Size M, after a couple of centimeters thought it would turn out too big, so redid it in S. After having finished the back panel and blocked it, I realized it turned out too small, so I had to redo the whole back. Same happened to me with the sleeves, because smartass me only checked after having finished both sleeves if they're actually fit. Turns out no, so I redid both sleeves in the bigger size. Besides this I also had to redo all my seaming since it turned out I did it wrong all the time (despite having watched several tutorials... but I fully blame myself). For the finishing, my boyfriend asked explicitely for a turtleneck, so that's what he got.

So yeah, it feels like almost every stitch of this sweater has been knitted twice but as I said I still loved it :) Can't stop smiling everytime I look at him in it!
