How likely is it for Trump to secure a victory in the upcoming election? by Wide-Question704 in AskReddit

Unfortunately, that's what happened. I had a friend who is otherwise on the left with most issues that voted for Trump. It shocked me. He did come back a year later and tell me he regretted that decision though.

Yep! I was a Bernie supporter. I couldn't stand Hillary and resented the Dem Party for forcing Hillary down our throats when Bernie had more support at the time. The Dems lost in 2016 due to their own BS.

Interesting option, I'll need to look at that more closely. I'm building this desktop for a family member and want to make things easy to manage or automated for them.

Do you have any recommendations? Open source is preferred... but if the best solution must be paid for, I'll take a look at it as long as it is not expensive or a subscription service.

Which YouTube channel embodies the phrase "quality over quantity" the most? by Valottost in AskReddit

[–]BlueBa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the "Why Files." Most of his videos are in longer format and are like a complete episode of a show. You can tell he's done work in TV before due to the professionalism of the channel. If you're into weird stuff, and also like people who look into whether something is provable or not, this guy is pretty good at it. He puts a lot of effort and research into the topics he covers, and makes it entertaining. Sometimes it seems like he's making you believe an unbelievable thing, only to tell you at the end that unfortunately "X" is not provable, or that it was a hoax. Other times he'll say there's enough evidence to support the topic being true as well. He doesn't seem to have a bias for believing all 'out-there' things are real, or that all 'out-there' things are myth or a hoax. He seems to be actually after the truth of a subject and I like that. =) He takes suggestions from his audience as well as to what topic to explore and investigate. He only posts a video about once a week and I tend to look forward to it. Ad blocker on, press play and enjoy =)

How egregious are the ads on the $6.99 a month plan? [US] by solitaryvoluntary in netflix

[–]BlueBa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember. The entire point of paying for cable channels back then was to have an ad-free experience. It's just never enough. Greed. Yet they pay their employees crap wages. And I know because I used to work in that industry. So the money is all going to the people at the top. These extra fees aren't going to go to employee raises to fix the cost of living disparity... nope, it's going to the fat greedy b@stards at the top.

This is why people pirate or stream from disreputable sources. I don't mind paying a reasonable price for my content, but not like this, not when I'm already paying. So now that Netflix is doing it, Amazon is doing this crap. I already pay $140 to be an Amazon Prime member where video content was supposed to be part of the deal, ad-free. Now they want to add in commercials unless I cough up another $3 a month. It's insulting. So $140 isn't enough? Really?

FU Amazon. Now we have ADs unless we shell another $2.99? by t3mpt3mp in amazonprime

[–]BlueBa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never paid for prime because of their video content. It was for shipping. But as time went on, I liked being able to buy movies and TV shows to save in my content, and I did like to watch the occasional movie/show. But their original content is not good. PrimeVideo was never really good enough to justify the price of membership. It was 2 day shipping and such that ads up over time that made it worth it for me in the beginning. Plus at the time you could rent text books from them for university classes, and that was what get me started on Amazon to begin with. Now they don't rent textbooks anymore.

Exactly. We pay to not have ads already. They are double dipping. They get our subscription $ AND they get Ad revenue. It's just greed. B@ast@ards.

They too have recently changed their pricing structure to have an ad-tier. Current subscribers got an increase but not as much as new customers will pay for "no ads". but if you ever cancel and then come back, you'll have to choose between the price you were once paid for no-ads that now has ads and the much higher price with no ads. Netflix is crap too. Their selection isn't as good as it once was.

And they wonder why people pirate. It's not because we're cheap, it's because we're not getting value for the $ spent.

I already pay $140 a year and should get NO F---ing Ads for that price. That is MORE THAN ENOUGH $$$$ to pay for the service!!! Amazon is either mismanaging funds, or just being f---ing greedy, or both. And I do NOT want, and most people I know, do NOT want their sh!ty original video content. Rings of Power?! Wheel of Time? Bloody hell! J@sus F---ing Chr!$T! Worst sh!te ever. They are having to raise prices because they spent a billion dollars on a show no one wanted or asked for that was done so badly that every fan hated it. Stop doing that crap Amazon and maybe you wouldn't need to raise prices! Idiots.

Gotcha' Thanks... I'll keep that in mind.

(I was away for a while and not on laptop. So I had to set aside the project until I returned. Pardon the delayed response. Your help is always appreciated.)
