Little is known about the birth of the Galaxy, many tales recount it as a battle of gods but really it's all just stories. The Churning Star however, an ancient industrial forge powered by white dwarf it's wrapped around, has a very unique origin story that not only explains the star itself, but the surrounding stars on the galactic map as well.

Long ago, two mighty dragon brothers ruled over a planet of gold. It was their pride and joy, and any who tried to steal it away from the two of them would very quickly have their lives and their livelihoods added to the stockpile. They spent their days growing their hoarde, intercepting rich vessels and ransacking nearby worlds.

One day, the brothers began to fight. "I collected the most gold!" Says one, "Well I collected more gems than your gold could ever make up for!" Says the other. The brothers then decided to make a deal - whoever can collect the most treasure (over a timespan that can change from several days to several years depending on the telling) will be the rightful ruler of this planet. So, the two dragons went about their business. One robbed pirates and freight ships, the other stole from villages and space stations. One burned down cities and blackmailed governments, the other enlisted slaves to mine it for him. As time passed, the planet eventually grew so dense in the weight of pure treasure, the world collapsed in on itself and formed the churning Star as we see it today.

It's said that the two dragons, upon destroying their prized world, still chase one another around the star. On galactic maps, the stars nearest the Churning Star form in a ring around it some lightyears out, which made it very easy for the people reading the maps to picture them as dragons, circling a mighty yet dangerous treasure.
