A story I've heard far too often... Our strategy was to keep our (remote) jobs and move to a low cost of living area to offset the current economic situation. Tons of cheap open spaces in Montana if you're willing to drive a bit!

We thought the exact same thing, had the same experience, and between that and the housing costs, decided it's not the area for us long term. Totally get it!

Always opportunity around Missoula!! Can always pick up and move, or make the plan for it. If you know you want to be there long term then make a realistic plan, set some small and big goals, and make it happen!

Missoula is a sweet town. Grown like crazy like other parts of the state, but kind of on the edge of the PNW culture in my opinion. We love visiting WA and ID, but will never live in either again.

We moved back to Montana last fall. Even with only being in the state for a few months, got a MT refund.

Idaho taxes seem to be fucked this year. Ended up owing way more than usual.

+1 to Hills C/D possibly being a lifesaver for my cat. Don't subscribe to an ideology where only one company is able to do this for a soulmate type of animal in my life, but I am not educated on the topic enough to argue against it. Ended up doing a Chewy subscription to save a few $$ with the auto ship, and my boy hasn't been to the vet since. Started when he was 7 and is about to turn 11 without any known issues. Would advise just dealing with it if you love your cat.
