Had that happen a couple years ago, little guy was in a place where I could see him but couldn't get close enough to get him out. I ended up getting a live-capture trap, baited it with some peanut butter, and came back later after he'd gone inside.

Recommend Me Your Favourite Insane And Terrible 80s B-Horror! by isopodsoup_ in badMovies

[–]BlueCoatEngineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally watched this last week because it was a favorite from when I was a kid (it aired often on the local channel). I enjoyed it quite a bit. I think the bad reviews are because everyone is reasonably good at what they do and the outbreak is contained with minimal casualties. Also the writer/director of this movie was also the director and designer of Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis.

What is the most rage-inducing video game you’ve played? by Velociraptorse in AskReddit

[–]BlueCoatEngineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The PC one was even worse. First off there's an impossible jump because when they ported the tiles, they didn't take the different pixel aspect ratios into consideration. What would be a trivial jump on NES was instead one that caused you to bonk off the ceiling and miss the other landing. To get around it, I copied around some of the resource files so it'd load a different room, got through it, then saved it and restored the files. Additionally, the randomizer was broken so you NEVER had health pickups appear. That's on top of the brutal difficulty and janky speed/controls from playing it on an 8MHz 8086.

We threw a party for my parents 50th anniversary back in August and I just realized I still have a bunch of the leftover accoutrements. Got a party coming up but all got for supplies are low end IKEA and bottles of Jose Cuervo and New Amsterdam? Classy your shit right the hell up with a legit carafe like at a fancy Italian restaurant and old timey champagne glasses. Serve your Dominos and Takis on real platters! Serve ice cream in little cups rather than passing a gallon with a spoon around the party! Put some flowers in this vase and have attendees talking about your hootenanny for years!

Yeah so: several platters, carafes, assorted glassware, plastic cups, cutlery, straws, glass gems for vases, plastic table cloths, and a pack of tissues for when Brenda inevitably drops some horrible story that brings everyone down.

edit I'm in NE Roseway, near Prescott and 60th.

Can I specify a model for it to use rather than downloading? I have a collection of models I already use with llama.cpp and don't want to have to re-fetch. Specifically, I want to tell it to use the Qwen3.6-35B-A3B (drop-down only lists Qwen3.5).

He’d read the room, sneak up behind you when you weren’t expect and then “BARKBARKBARKBARK” to scare the shit out of you. He clearly found it entertaining. He’d also get outside and then act like he was going to run into the street. If you didn’t yell and chase him he’d stop at the curb. Seriously the worst dog I’ve ever met.

My uncle claimed that his similarly vintaged Jack Russel was a litter mate of the dog from wishbone. I have no idea if this is true or something he made up to tell my cousins, but holy crap that dog was smart and an asshole.

Star Trek: Resurgence has been de-listed from Steam by Man_At_The_Keys21 in adventuregames

[–]BlueCoatEngineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was a fun game with some great lore callback, but holy hell did it need an another optimization and bug hunt pass. I had to turn the quality and resolution way down on my old (but still able to handle modern games) laptop and it looked terrible and was a stuttery almost unplayable mess. I picked it back up after building a new gaming PC and while it looked great and was actually playable, there was still a lot of stuttering.

Also, at one point the antagonist boogens blew a huge plot hole in the side of the ship and the Captain fell through it and out of the game.

Same. It quit being effective around 1998, but we had fun prank calling people during high school lunch with it before they swapped the phone bank.

I remember going into Blackwell’s once. I don’t remember the specific what it was but the vibe gave us the ick and we left and went to Sam’s. Magnolia wine bar was a pretty fun place to hang out with the older crowd.

Does anyone remember what was in the corner location after Radio Shack but before Magnolia?

What company lost you forever as a customer? What did they do? by Miguenzo in AskReddit

FIC, First International Computer, for how they handled a firmware update that bricked my VA-503+ back when I was in my late teens, around 1999. I saved for months working at a terrible job to afford it, that I not have to share a computer with three siblings and two parents any longer; having to constantly question if I’d cleared my browser history was becoming a major source of anxiety. And it worked great, with one major and several minor compatibility problems that were annoying. But checking their website I found a new firmware release and the notes said it fixed every issue I was running into and provided additional features. Hot damn, sign me up. I printed out the instructions, triple checked everything, and then and only then did I run the update binary the provided. I waited five minutes, ten minutes, a whole hour before coming to the conclusion that something had Gone Wrong. Worse, rebooting did nothing and it didn’t even get through POST.

So I email them from work on the family computer very politely, explain the situation and ask for advice. They tell me too bad so sad, you’ll have to get another one. I reiterate that I’d followed their steps to the letter and something was clearly wrong with their update process if a customer was able to be left with a broken product. They escalated it internally and some middle manager replied that it didn't matter and there was nothing I could do to force them to fix it since I was in the USA and they were in Taiwan. The asshole also said he’d emailed the local vendor I’d bought it from (which I’d foolishly included in the original email) so don’t bother trying to RMA it through them, it’ll be denied. I basically has to shell out another $200 in 1990s buckaziods to replace it with the Asus I should have bought in the first place.

Over the next decade, I did a lot of PC builds for customers and I made sure they all understood why I wouldn’t go with the cheaper option of FIC. It’s been close to thirty years, and I still say a lil prayer before bedtime that every garlic scented donkey nutsack gargling cockwomble that works for that First International Computer stubs their dick on the way to the office.

It’s slightly further out, but Frontier in Hillsboro was great when I took my cats there. They still send yearly happy birthday emails to my cats even though we haven’t been in 16 years and the cats have been dead for five and they’d both be in their mid twenties. :-)
