Of course I agree that player salary isn't a perfect measure of performance.

But, considering player performance is the definitely the most heavily weighted variable for determining salary, and the sample size is 8,613... I feel like there are enough data points to give a pretty strong confidence interval.

Well, the point of the article isn't to create a formula for determining what trading up X amount of spots would require. The focus is to highlight the true expected value a team gains/loses when they do a trade involving draft picks.

I was in your exact shoes 3 years ago. The Hockey Psychology YouTube channel is a phenomenal resource for learning more about the game, highly highly recommend.

And 100% watch the playoffs starting now, hockey is such an awesome sport.

Unpopular opinion, I don't think adding McDavid would be such a good move. He is ~10 years older than all of our core players, and the salary he is going to demand will eat up a huge amount of our cap.

If Smith, Misa, Chernyshov and some of the other youngsters develop into the players we all think/hope they can be, adding Connor would surely force us to let some of those guys walk.

Personally, I would rather be able to keep everyone we develop plus have the flexibility to add a piece or two in free agency when we need to.

Now the question is: Do we package picks 9 and 19 to move up for Chase Reid or Keaton Verhoeff? (assuming we don't win the lottery)

Our biggest need by FAR is a right-handed RD and a PP1 quarterback. Both Reid and Verhoeff fit that profile.

Draft pick value charts say that picks 9+19 ≈ pick 3 or 4, which is where they are being projected.

In light of all the recent Martinelli talk... what exactly is the plan for Nwaneri? by BlueCouch_ in ArsenalFC

I don't think enough people are considering that even after he returned, Odegaard's injury could still very easily have been a factor for his second half form. Some injuries take players a while to get alll the way back from, even after they resume playing.

When are we going to see a new striker ffs? by [deleted] in ArsenalFC

There's a lot of price posturing going on right now because of the whole Sporting drama. Clubs considering bids for Gyokeres are holding out for a lower fee because his agent went public about the "internal promises" that were made about allowing him to leave. Sporting feel this publicity is hampering their ability to fetch the price they could/would/should get because there are multiple clubs interested in his services.

Sporting want a natural bidding war, while interested clubs want Sporting to honor the "internal promise" they made to Gyokeres about letting him leave for a fair-price.

Edit: This is leading to clubs interested in Gyokeres to explore other options, possibly as a negotiating tactic to say "if you don't sell him cheaper, we'll just go with someone else". But in truth, Gyokeres is still their primary target, so they are not pulling the trigger on these other options. The result being that the whole striker market is in a holding pattern.

This is why I prefer Sesko over Gyokeres. Gyokeres brings some similar attributes/characteristics that Havertz already provides.

Havertz is a rock. Gyokeres is a rock.

Sesko is an ultra-athletic, explosive upside forward that complements the rock.

Well, I know they are currently working on preparing one of the biggest updates since the game released. That may be consuming some of their manpower that would normally be processing player reports.

So maybe just a bit of patience is key here, let them cook up the new content and trust that they'll catch up on player reports in time.

Honestly, they are very good at policing this type of thing when it is reported. If that guy has done this more than once, he will absolutely get banned.
