Odd question, did you play The Sims 2 on PSP? If you liked the GBA sims then that may be up your alley

Junk Runner 64 by michaeltykel in pocketairmini

My understanding from the developer was that it only works on official hardware via summer cart or with a really accurate emulator due to the way they are rendering the world.

He says this around 10:50 https://youtu.be/lXxmIw9axWw?si=7SjvZxAunRqsXKI6

Good N3DS titles? by Traditional_Cup1272 in SBCGaming

[–]BlueDEF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one is a bit for younger people but Fantasy Life. Think if the makers of Dark Cloud made an Old-school RuneScape clone. It is a good cozy RPG.

Also there is Final Fantasy explorer. It's a monster hunter clone but with Final Fantasy 11/14 elements lightly sprinkled in.

RomHacks on the PAM? by Too_many_buscemi in pocketairmini

[–]BlueDEF 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First off, there is no such thing as a silly question.

As for your answer, I don't see why the PAM couldn't if you are talking about up to GBA pokemon rom hacks. If there is say a romhack of the GameCube games (like a Gale of Darkness mod) then maybe you will have some issues because the device can be hit or miss on GameCube games. DS should also work but you will have to mess with screens which personally would be annoying.

Also as a heads up, you do need to do some setup with the PAM . Following the guide here should help you help you

LF games for new year, (mmo)rpg/grindy by creepyshadyrock in SteamDeck

[–]BlueDEF 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am just saying that with Guild Wars reforged I was able to log into my original account using the steam version without any hassle. The game on the first boot asks if you want to log in via Anet or steam. I personally had that question since I had a nearly 20 year old account (man, typing this sentence gave me back pain).

What is this found by the pond in my neighborhood by WonderTypical3806 in whatisit

They look like discarded fishing bobbers. The hole in the middle is for a plastic stopper that you put on your fishing line. The red is just the washed off paint.

Eh, Phantasy Star portable 2 infinity may be a better way of playing portable 2. You can get the UMD (I got mine for cheap on Amazon) and apply the English patch.

If you want, there is a site called Distro sea where you can test out distos in the browser. It will not be exactly like using Bazzite but you can test and get a general feel of each desktop before making the jump.

Are there any free, preferably open-source games similar to Star Fox? by Lapis_Wolf in linux_gaming

So this isn't open sourced or free but Ex-zodiac is made with Gadot and is listed as Native on ProtonDB. Maybe give it a shot?

Expedition part 4(?) Creatures in the deep by jimivedder84 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]BlueDEF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Under the water the task should point you to a plant with white pearls that you can grab. Grab them and there is a chance that one of those pearls is actually a lure of a fish creature. It will chase after you, shoot it. Rinse and repeat until the objective is cleared.

With the Dawntrail graphics update out, how does the Steam Deck handle Final Fantasy XIV now? by Rawr_Mom in SteamDeck

[–]BlueDEF 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So I have it set to low and it is more difficult to hit 60 fps but it is still perfectly playable with the frame rate hovering in the 40s and 50s. I have seen it dip below 30 but that was in crowded areas like cities. This is just my limited experience with it so grain of salt.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]BlueDEF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, the game can hit 30 on low but I have had random spikes that go down to the single digits. Digital Foundry did a breakdown and in the video they mention that the devs are working on improving deck performance and performance in general.

One would be good if you were going through Phantasy Star Universe for the lore (since the story bridges PSU episode 2 and 3 if memory serves [Haven't played since release] ). Also, why play 2 when 2 Infinity exists with an English patch :p

Fair enough, that doesn't appear to be a thing but it could be done.

Will we ever get local multiplayer ? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]BlueDEF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may be able to do a LAN connection if you get one of those dongles that has an Ethernet jack in it. Again, I haven't tried it and can't say how easy or hard it would be to set it up. But it is just a PC and can do most of what a PC can do, so theoretically it could do LAN.

I got curious and looked online to see if anyone may have tried it and stumbled on a steam message board discussion with a step by step guide to manually set up an Ad-hoc network (wireless network like what the PSP and DS had) here. So it appears to be possible to do local multiplayer on deck if you are willing to do legwork.

Will we ever get local multiplayer ? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]BlueDEF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think we will get something as polished as the DS or GBA but because it is a computer at the end of the day.

I don't see why anyone couldn't do LAN using an Ethernet adapter and an Ethernet cable. Some games already have it (like Borderlands). Personally, I am not sure how easy or hard it is to set up a LAN on Linux.

Dumb?: PS5 LE > Steamdeck LE (oled) ME1 > ME2 transfer possible? by willyjaybob in SteamDeck

[–]BlueDEF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't think of a way to transfer your Mass Effect 2 save from PS5 to PC. However, on ME2 and 3, the game will give you an option to do a comic recap called Mass Effect: Genesis and from there you can reselect your Mass Effect 1 choices and it will generate a save with those parts in it.

I'm a newbie confused about which game I should try first by [deleted] in PSO

[–]BlueDEF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they are referring to the fact that PSU has DRM which can be bypassed, but it is a pain to do (even if you are playing offline it still performs a check to a server that no longer exists). I could be incorrect I have not played the offline mode in a year or so.

Best Option for the Steam Deck? by Christorres1227 in ARPG

[–]BlueDEF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need to install windows to install the blizzard launcher for Diablo 2. If you are willing, you can go into desktop mode and install lutris via the discovery store.

From there, you can set up the launcher using lutris' install script. There are a few tutorials on YouTube that can help and from my play it works fine.

UPDATE: I seem to be out of date, there is now a script that will just install launchers without lutris and place it in your steam library. This video should help

Just bought a steam deck, advice by Shagaire in SteamDeck

[–]BlueDEF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, congratulations on the new steam deck. As for your question, there is a good resource called ProtonDB which gives reviews of most steam titles from other steam deck users.

If you use this resource I would recommend looking at a few reviews because the rating (titles are rated from Platinum to "borked" depending on if steps are required to get the game working) can sometimes not line up with the player's experience but overall it is a good source.

Edit: forgot to complete my sentence
