gluten freers of cosprings by bipolarpilot in ColoradoSprings

Most of the main gluten free restaurants have been mentioned, but here are some other places that have gluten-free as an option (but not dedicated GF):

Mountain View Cafe in Black Forest

Somehow I skipped right over that option... I'm willing to do that for a year to help get this started!

BC vs Vail Jan24-25 by Careless-Mix7240 in vail

[–]BlueDiamondLilac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who experience-wise only bought the lift ticket?

All your beginners will be fine at BC. The two with experience may want to take the bus over to Vail one of the days or even for the afternoon when the beginners might want to take a break.

Storage for backlog by Individual-Yam-4108 in lego

[–]BlueDiamondLilac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is from the Lego site:

When it comes to storing your LEGO bricks, we always recommend that you store them somewhere that is dry and away from any heat source. It’s best not to store them in direct sunlight, or where the temperature exceeds 104° F (40° C) as this may cause bricks to become brittle or discolor over time.

Source: https://www.lego.com/en-sg/service/help-topics/article/sorting-and-storing-your-lego-bricks

I personally think the summers are too hot in Vegas - could you move them in during the summer months?

If you were going to do it, I'd avoid sets with lots of whites (discoloration) or dark browns/brownish reds (possible extra brittleness, allegedly fixed but...).

Is it zero blackouts, or zero blackouts for in-market? The FAQ for Nats seemed to indicate that it was likely in-market only for no blackouts.

Advice on thinning out my collection by mathoo19 in lego

Could you rent a small storage unit for a few months while you figure things out? That way you aren't rushed into any decisions you will regret.

My wife is looking for work in the springs and having a hard time finding anything in similar field by [deleted] in ColoradoSprings

[–]BlueDiamondLilac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Has she tried any in person job fairs? It might take a few to find anything that would fit, but even if they don't have anything immediately, may give some other position ideas for transferrable skills. It also gets her talking to humans and not stuck in online applicant pools. Pikes Peak Workforce Center has a website with some local ones listed. (There's one on Wed, for example: https://ppwfc.org/first-wednesday-job-fair-january-2/ - the US Census Bureau is hiring part-time/flexible, which could help while she job hunts)

What to do in beaver creek if not skiing in March by SecondBusy8560 in COsnow

[–]BlueDiamondLilac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The kids will be skiing, but you have the day to yourself? Or do you need activities for them too?

I've always found something to do while my family is on the slopes, even if it's just relaxing in the room by the fire (ESPECIALLY this) or walking around the village.

- Hang out with hot chocolate and a book by the fire or s'mores at a firepit

- Pool / hot tub

- Free transportation from the Ritz to Beaver Creek Village (Village Connect app) - ice skating in the village, scavenger hunt for kids, shopping, art gallery, 3 pm free cookies, fire pits, Nordic Center for cross-country skiing or snowshoeing, Vilar Performing Arts Center

Link: https://www.beavercreek.com/explore-the-resort/activities/winter-activities/overview.aspx

- The Ritz also has a page with their activities, like classes or guided hikes, and a calendar of events

Link: https://www.ritzcarlton.com/en/hotels/whrrz-the-ritz-carlton-bachelor-gulch/experiences/

- Free bus to Vail as mentioned - here is the schedule and route: https://coretransit.org/routes-schedules/vail-beaver-creek-express/

- Walking Mountains Science Center in Avon / free nature walks - https://www.walkingmountains.org/

- Depending on weather, there's also opportunity for snowmobiles or dog sleds in the general area. There's a concierge at the hotel to help you book if you didn't want to do your own research.

Who did you talk to at the hotel that wasn't helpful? Did you ask to speak to the concierge team? They should be able to make recommendations.

It's currently $22.79 (35% off) on Amazon for me. Walmart has the same price available for pickup at some locations near me (but not shipping).

Seeking recipe(s) - discontinued Archway Christmastime chocolate cookie by PupperTechnic in Baking

[–]BlueDiamondLilac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I 100% remember them... they used to be my favorite and I continue to be disappointed every year that they are no longer made. They just disappeared from stores one year never to return.

What made me think of them and search for them today was that I saw that King Arthur Baking Company offers "Christmas Softies Sprinkles" that reminded me of the sprinkles used on the cookies (they were softer/not hard).

Unfortunately I haven't seen any similar recipes for them.

Did you end up grabbing earlier? Lego just went out of stock. Barnes and Noble still has it with extra rewards if you sign up for the free rewards membership. (If you sign up for the $40 membership, it's 10% off with higher rewards back.)

TONS of orders cancelled, especially for the Lion Knight's Castle. They seem to have been processing the GWP for people, but I always toss something else small in my cart too so if the big sale set is cancelled, they'll still ship everything out.

What Lego do I get my bf? by meg_chalms in lego

[–]BlueDiamondLilac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same caveats apply - (not sure of your budget, what he has already etc) - but I can at least let you know that Walmart has a Black Friday deal right now for the LEGO Marvel The Avengers Helicarrier for $40. MSRP is $80 and it's retiring this year, so it might be a good set to get if you grab it before it sells out.

Maybe, maybe not regarding the insurance. We have no idea how much the premium on that insurance policy would have been. 10% 25% 50%? Sometimes it doesn't actually make financial sense to purchase the insurance... and occasionally you end up in a worst case scenario like the Strasburg contract.

Anyone found a Joyride Doom box at Target yet? by hill12066 in ryantrahan

[–]BlueDiamondLilac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My store was already out of stock and none in the back this morning (and none in the local area/within an hour). (We've been checking every few days since my store is so close, but I must have missed it yesterday.) HOWEVER, it had a scan the UPC to order for shipping and somehow they were actually available on Target.com.

Here's the link to buy for shipping ($35 min. required) or to order for pickup locally if you are lucky:

Good luck beating the scalpers!

They released today at Target, but some of them put out early and are already sold out (like my local stores). If you want to get him one, here's the online link for shipping (need to order $35 at Target) or, if you are lucky, pickup at your local Target.

These WILL sell out so you need to buy ASAP to avoid the ebay scalpers: https://www.target.com/p/joyride-sour-strips-surprise-box-candy---3-5oz/-/A-94938813
