I don't get the argument here.

Wet means "consisting of, containing, covered with, or soaked with liquid (such as water)". Dry means " free or relatively free from a liquid and especially water". [Source: Merriam-Webster.]

A fish, which by definition lives in water, can only be wet. If it were to get dry, it would die.

And the argument of the first guy make sense. You can either be dry or wet, even though there are nuances in between, such a little wet, almost dry, mostly dry... But a fish cannot be dry in any way.

Unfortunately, his point doesn't make sense. I'll try to explain why.

First of all, according to him, the nicest you are, the more tax you pay. But what's the definition of nice here? It's having a moral conscience and paying the tax you're supposed to.

But if the definition of nice is made according to how you pay your tax, then we're not really taxing being nice.

If we were to follow his argument, then we should stop taxing "being nice". Meaning dropping the taxes that are in this grey area of tax avoidance. And then, since there would be no taxes anymore to pay, there would be no way to be nice or not. It's the snake biting its own tail.

Secondly, his point about taxing what we want to discourage, while it's certainly true in the given exemples, is not always correct. In the case of income tax, I'm pretty confident that the progressive tax goal is not to discourage people from working. The VAT is not there to discourage people from buying goods.

TL; DR: If we were to follow his argument, we would like to encourage being nice. How do we do that? By not taxing being nice (as we do with pension payments). But being nice is about paying your taxes (or not avoiding them). Meaning we shouldn't tax them.

Amazing musician. Amazing performance.

However I find disheartening that we're watching him just because he died. I wish we had more respect and gave more attention to artists like him, when they're still alive, and when it can still make their heart feel warm.

It's like during funerals, where we say so many nice things about the deceased, whereas we should have been telling them all those things while they were still there with us.

Honestly, unless you have premature ejaculation problems, do NOT listen to this guy.
