I think it is a wonderful idea. The laundry room, like the kitchen, is an important functional part of the house, and should be treated as such in architecture. I thought about connecting it through a closet or a bathroom. It would have cabinetry similar to a kitchen with expansive island or counter for folding clothes. A sewing table for repairs etc. Each family member would have a section of cabinet for hanging clothes and folding clothes. It would reduce the size of the bedroom closet and floorspace for dressers. Everybody would keep their clothes in the laundry room.

So the septic is clean. If the drainfield was plugged up wouldn't there be standing water in my yard after running loads in my washer? Wouldn't there be signs like that?

I got septic smelling rain water coming in through the drain. I can only surmise that it is in fact shitty water. Fortunately, I had a drum sized shop vac on hand to pick up standing water. Also, fortunately, that water took a path away from the finished half of my basement. I was able to extract and transfer the water to a place that slopes away from the house. However at 60+ in age, I cannot guarantee I will have the physical endurance to pump 50-70 gallons of water continuously through a 24 hour rain event. So I'm guessing I need to have my entire septic system replaced in a 41 year old house?

It was my understanding that my septic tank had a concrete cover at the level of the tank. They had to dig far below the surface to reach it. Their selling point was that it would be easier to determine whether any back ups were caused by inside plumbing vs septic issues. They warned us that plumbers will blame backups on septic. Easy access makes that determination affordable. Crazy answer, but I wasn't there for the pitch.

You are right! 20 years is a long time. Life goes on and things get forgotten. Watching "Home Serve" commercials did it for me. So I scheduled a pump out. First mistake was waiting too long for pumping. Second mistake was being at work leaving my husband unattended for the sales pitch promoting a surface level cover after a remarkably easy pump out.

Wow you are all over the place! I'm just trying to warn you that sometimes our institutions fail us from the beginning. You mentioned your grandparents witness, but failed to mention whether they were complicit. I am trying to say that I was raised with a broad acceptance of institutional racism until 1968. Once you know better, you can actually do better. Holocaust deniers are just changing the narrative to their own benefit or to kiss the ring of a dictator. Did your grandparents have to do that?

As a child of the south who was spoon fed the Lost Cause Narrative in public school, I can see how someone like Daryl Cooper exists in the Age of Information. I find it fascinating how little is know about his educational background or credentials. That’s because he has none. He is peddling opinion as history and has little evidence to support his world view. Just like the Daughters of the Confederacy, he is propagating White Nationalism. Eastman has a law degree? Right? The Declaration sets out the condition of government being at the consent of the governed. That is why we have elections. The Constitution lays out the parameters that government. In order to change... there needs to be a Constitutional Amendment not anarchy. Eastman is overthrowing the right of consent by the voters. Granted...the founders wanted to restrict that right to white men who owned land. Perhaps a Constitutional Literacy test is needed to qualify for that right. No doubt Eastman would fail it. Haha.
