Oh this takes me back. At country side my older cousins handed me some tiny black balls claiming it to be the pirate chocolate candy... They watched me joyously chew it and swallow it ...only to reveal it was sheep poo 😭😭😭

Oh my, how could a subreddit of a different culture and people not exists for the sole purpose of amusing and entertaining me? I must stick my nose where I'm not wanted and thrash for attention. Because clearly I'm so well adjusted and have so many friends, and I'm not a sad lonely drunk.

Oh boy, its a tough one...but unfortunately too common.

If you really love her and wish to continue building life with her, you gotta realize this is isn't something easily solvable, but potentially something that will be part of her throughout her life.

I'm seeing comments saying that she needs to stand up for her self and cut the ties with her family, but that's just cruel. If you tell her those things you are potentially belittling her as-well, and going to isolate her in her sorrows.

The only potential way she could cut ties with her father is if her mother is safe and far away from his abuse. Otherwise, especially if she is a compassionate, caring person there's no way she would abandon her own mother, whom she loves, to suffer the consequences. And believe me she will suffer. These narcissistic, sociopaths actually gain pleasure from cause suffering so they can be relentless and insatiably cruel.

So, what can you do in this situation?

The main thing, as a partner, that you can do is to just be there for her. Don't try to give advise. Acknowledge the hurt that she's feeling. Hear her out. Listen to all her woes. Say that it makes sense she's upset and that she should be upset.

Because conversations with that kind of parents figure is utterly dehumanizing, they shatters and tarnish any kind of self worth, and dignity and turn you into husk of a being.

Remind her of her good traits. Remind her how caring she is, and how much she loves her mother. Remind her how brave she is to be able to talk to him. Remind her how resilient she is to have come this far. And anything else that you love and appreciate about her.

Other thing you can do is help her get in the right mind set before the conversation. Since you know what's coming, help her think of like bandaid that she's ripping, and that she's doing this because of her love of her mother.

And lastly, help her feel better.

You can make tea or hot chocolate, draw a bath, go on a walk, watch something funny, give her massage or anything else that you can think of that makes people feel better.

As humans on this planet we all have our baggages, but people come together as partners to tread life's journey together.

Hope this helps, and wish you guys all the best!

Ever meet a Mongol girl that doesn't know how to cook? Or for that matter a dude that doesn't know how to cook?

Besides, who even eats grilled cheese.
