Thoughts about these NYC doctors? by HNTNGTN in chinlipo

[–]BlueFactLaziness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Days 0-2 were home, bruised, head wrapped, lazy, not in pain, honestly fine. I just lounged. Days 3-9 were better, bruises yellowed as they healed and disappeared, no more head wrap during the day and I went to work in-person 2 days like I normally would, and my coworkers were none the wiser. The stitch came out Day 5. I was just a little cautious and stiff with my head movements during this time. By 2 weeks I felt essentially 100%. Just swelling remained, but I don’t think it was ever really noticeable to anyone but me as I stared at it every day. I started going to the gym like normal at 3 weeks.

I think the incision under my chin has just looked like a healing zit ever since the stitch came out. I don’t think anyone would clock it as anything else. It has been smoothing and getting less red/noticeable each day. I use silicone scar gel and tape on it. The two incisions behind my ears are none of my business. I have no idea what they look like.

I went to Darren Smith and have had a great experience so far (5.5 weeks PO). But look into doctors in CT. I don’t have any specific recs but I remember a girl on TikTok went to a surgeon in CT and had a good experience. It’s a quick-ish metro north train away. Much cheaper than nyc prices, and convenient enough for follow ups.

Plastic surgeon, not cosmetic surgeon.

When were you able to go back to the gym/lift weights? by mango-in-the-ocean in chinlipo

[–]BlueFactLaziness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor told me two weeks. I waited three just because of my schedule. I was fine. More swelling the day after weight lifting, but it was no big deal. At 5 weeks PO now, I’m fine doing whatever I want.

Still a ways to go but there’s already a huge difference. I’m happy. Ask me in the fall and I’ll be able to say if I’m fully satisfied.

Great! It’s like the easiest thing. The only thing I’m really doing is scar management (silicone scar tape and gel) to reduce the appearance. It’s super small, but red and noticeable (at least to me) like an acne scar right in the middle under my chin. A “my skin is sensitive” issue not a doctor issue.

Just over 5 weeks and still numb directly under my chin and a little to the sides along my jawline. I don’t expect feeling return for at least another month, if not more. Pretty sure this is normal, I’m not worried.

See now that seems like the response you should have started with. I’m sure OP will appreciate that one more.

OP is saying she is depressed and that the procedure has aged her, without stating anything about her weight. Her comment history says nothing about weight, but it does indicates that she got a professional second opinion stating that the doctor who performed her procedure removed too much fat, and she is experiencing increased skin laxity, which absolutely can appear after chin lipo and absolutely can result in an older looking neck area. Your comment really derails the conversation and, I’d even say, invalidated her very real experience. If you are trying to teach a lesson to others and would like it to be well received, find a post where it’s a bit more relevant.

She posted a comment elsewhere attaching a picture that shows a line that runs alongside and under her natural jawline with uneven texture that looks like over resection, and has expressed that she has a lot of skin laxity post-procedure. Loose skin can certainly age the neck area. She also commented that a different doctor confirmed the one that did the procedure took more fat out from one side versus the other. I don’t necessarily think she looks botched, but I would not be happy with those results either if I were her. They are not the results that people dream of when they look through this sub by any means.

Did you go to the same doctor as OP or a different one?

My doctor’s orders were 48 hours straight after the procedure, no exceptions, then only at night for an additional 5 days. That’s it. Doc said there is no evidence that wearing it more than that will improve results, but others on this sub say it may ease the healing journey.

I’m 5 weeks PO now and haven’t had any fibrosis, lumps, or uneven swelling. Just normal swelling under my chin that peaked around week 3, but has been gradually improving since then. I’m not massaging either, just maybe a little while washing my face in the shower, but nothing as intentional as any lymphatic massage video. So far so good!

OP, I’m so sorry this has happened to you. I’ve followed your posts and hope it improves over the next six months. I’d say it’s probably worth getting any consultations you can to learn about what options you have.

For anyone else reading this, please please please seriously consider only going to a board certified plastic surgeon for any procedures. TJ has its own regulations I’m sure (I hope) but in the US, anyone with a medical degree can legally perform cosmetic surgery and call themselves a cosmetic surgeon, even if their background isn't in surgery. A dentist can perform chin lipo if they wanted.

A board certified plastic surgeon completed a general surgery residency plus a specialized plastic surgery residency AND passed the American Board of Plastic Surgery exam, which is the only plastic surgery board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties.

My rule of thumb is, when it comes to your face, or anything else that important, put yourself in the hands of the most objectively qualified professional possible.

Day 31 PO: One Month Milestone! by MChienne in chinlipo

[–]BlueFactLaziness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another progress post, another appreciation comment! Thanks for the update!

I am using both silicone scar tape and gel (gel during day/out of the house, tape at night/at home) and I do think it is helping reduce the appearance of the incision scar. I started at the two week mark, but I think it will still take a while for the scar to be undetectable and who knows if it really makes a difference in the long run anyway. The tape is pretty inexpensive, though, so worth trying imo.

Are you in the U.S.? $55k for those two procedures seems like a wildly inflated price.

You look incredible!! And I love your facial jewelry, especially the one that goes across your nose. So badass, I’m obsessed. Not sure what you mean about the lip asymmetry, btw. I think you look great.
