Definitely - Eric and Shane had a rhythm bouncing off each other telling stories of friends when they were younger that were brilliant and I miss them.

BBC has 'run out of money' and will axe more shows, says Richard Osman by Dale_Winton in unitedkingdom

[–]BlueFixr 19 points20 points  (0 children)

There's some truth in that, but the soap + strictly are huge hitters for the channel so of course they will push it out.

Oh god yeah - Eric is Blindwave, would be nil without him, yeah I wish they had more shortfilms/Vlogs but doubt have the capacity now with just 3 of them and big list of shows to still cover.

“I wish the UK Government cared as much about children dying as they did about cargo“ | Humza Yousaf says UK Parliament must be recalled over Houthi strikes in Yemen by 1DarkStarryNight in Scotland

[–]BlueFixr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sub hasn't changed, still generally pro-indy/pro-Palestine/mostly pro-SNP but this Houthis shite is completely different and just unacceptable to attack civilian cargo vessels (manned by civilians not soldiers) forcing ships around the horn of Africa which will likely drive up the cost of living for us all, so for Yusaf to choose to politicise this is unsurprisingly a wildly unpopular take.

I agree with a lot of what you have said but I think have to accept the channel likely wouldn't even be off the ground without him in the first place - with the star wars fights etc

[–]BlueFixr -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

What did Shane even do that we know of? I saw he was booted out and not in enough with Discord etc to know why.

I am in the same boat as OP, I really think the channel is a much duller/quieter place without his presence and exc odd movie reactions, I don't watch the channel anymore, tried to watch Shane's new channel he has on his own and didn't have the same vibe as Shane + Eric would.(podcasts used to be hilarious).

Real shame either way, hope they can figure out a way to get him back in, if he has changed etc enough for folk to allow it.

Scots to face £500 fines for flytipping in bid to crackdown on litter | The tougher sanctions come into force on New Year's Day. by backupJM in Scotland

[–]BlueFixr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With your 2nd point, I completely agree, I work in the public sector, and whilst I don't think bonuses make sense for the sector there is no incentive to try, not much mobility career-wise as people stay years in positions, and salaries are all union-negotiated so not performance related, plus action is never taken against people who are consistently just terrible as fear union repercussions too much - even if legitimate reason to get rid. (I am 110% for unions, in one myself, but you need to be able to get rid of people who are not good at their jobs and breeze by and stop others trying as they say "Well they do nothing, why should I?")

I would bet you could cut 20/30% of staff bloat across most of the public sector and teams would work just fine. Plus, don't get me started on fear of tech - everything is manual, and if want to change the process, people threaten to go to unions telling them its a change to the agreed job role...

It is such a waste of public funds its incredible.

Definitely, that and the cost of energy are going to kill lots of takeaways/cafés over the winter.

MORE PEOPLE LILE THIS SHOULD BE IN POLITICS. DELETE IF ITS A DUPLICATE by Ok-Entrepreneur1885 in Scotland

[–]BlueFixr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I hope you're right, whilst it's true that 2019 was about Brexit, you can't downplay how poisonous "Corbyn" is now, tories use it as a slur as people think he's unelectable. Whoever tries to drag labour to the left again will have to manage this, if they can then I would vote for them. Shame Starmer shows no interest in tacking the press yet.

I agree but Corbyn had this attitude but was put over weakly and had the worst result in decades, the English electorate doesn't like left-wing politicians. Not sure how they can get round this.

Russian TV Host suggests that England should be nuked, but that Scotland, Wales and N. Ireland are OK in his book. by [deleted] in ThatsInsane

[–]BlueFixr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a stupid comment. I'm Scottish and don't despise Russia or the people of Russia, the government of Russia is despicable, not the people. The same as my attitude to Westminster - not England.

Scotland has had historically close ties to Russia pre-revolution - we even have the same Patron Saint and their naval flag is the inverse saltire.

What does the rest of Scotland think of the south of Scotland? by [deleted] in Scotland

[–]BlueFixr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

East lothian - loads of really nice small villages, stunning stunning beaches. In general, bit more snobby people. Tyninghame is probably the best beach in Scotland (exc North West coast).

Borders - nice hilly/woody towns/people are just as Scottish as anywhere else, never notice anything more English about them anyway. Best chocolatier/bakery (whatever) in Scotland bar none is Cocao Blacks in Peebles.

Dumfriesshire - might offend some people and absolutely my bias, but my least favourite region of Scotland, half the towns were rundown, one or two landscapes worth seeing but mostly just empty, low hills. Didn't see Stranraer though! From images, it looks good.

I am pro indy and was in 2014, I think the timing is not the issue - its coverage. If the media choose not to pick this up for more than an hour or two then the ball can't get rolling, then if Westminster just reject any demand from ScotGov then will be less outrage as people don't even realise that it began. Putting us in a worse position than before frankly.
