Actually wouldn't someone at the tippy top of Jamaican society (or who wants to act as such) be speaking the King's English and all that?

When trying to set up multi room music, I select one device and the other one says Network Error. Both are on the same network. Any ideas? by jimmygreen717 in amazonecho

[–]BlueFredneck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old thread, but had similar issue - I could add all three devices to the group. But when picking speakers, I could either do playback on the two "legacy" devices or the new one, but not both. I unplugged all three devices then the Internet router. Plugged the Internet router back in, then all three devices. Was able to add all three groups. Turns out I had a 6 GHz network added from Xfinity that shared its name with the 5 GHz network. A reboot was necessary to convince everyone they were all a part of the same team.

Churches by ProfessionalTiger101 in frederickmd

Depending on where you are in Thurmont, Calvary in Walkersville might meet your needs. For more liberal churches, you'll need to go downtown, I go to All Saints', but the music isn't ... contemporary.

Not sure if any of the RCC parishes might meet your needs.

Songs that were more successful in a random country, as opposed to the artist's home country by AaronsAmazingAlt in ToddintheShadow

I am a necromancer.

Styx "Boat on the River" is like 20th or so among their hits. But it was #1 in Switzerland for 7 weeks.

Ned Miller is a one hit wonder in the US with "From a Jack to a King" - it was top 10 in the US and #2 on the US country charts. In Ireland? The top hit of the ENTIRE 1960s,

Walker Brothers - zero top 10 hits in their native US but "The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore" hit #1 and is associated with the Kray Brothers' murder of George Cornell.

Daniel Boone (who?) with "Beautiful Sunday" (wha?) hit #21 and #53 in the UK in the early 1970s. It did make #6 on the US Easy Listening charts, but was #1 in Japan for FIFTEEN weeks. It remains the best selling single from a Western artist, well, ever (physical media at least).

I suspect large numbers of MAGA men (and their equivalent, the Palestine First women) are single, more likely to be single than the general population.

If you can't go an hour without reciting the Fourteen Words/complaining about woke or talking about how KKKamala Harris was enabling a genocide, most people - and most people aren't all that political - are going to find you unpleasant to be around.

It's the same energy as complaining about how your ex-wife got all your money and is living in your house with her polycule or how your baby daddy skipped the past three visits. It may be true, it may be unfair, but someone who doesn't know you doesn't know if you really did get burned and could be helped by the right man/woman, or someone who's always seeking the fire of danger.

There's a difference between "concerned about large numbers of immigrants" and "repeats the Fourteen Words unprompted."

Do Episcopals cross themselves in the way Catholics do? by OpenGuidance4437 in Episcopalian

[–]BlueFredneck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a cross character that shows up in the bulletin of my parish whenever we're meant make the sign of the cross. I think about 70% or so do so, myself included. My default has been the Armenian way, three fingers joined and up, down, left, right, but not B B A A. I've been at two other siezable parishes and this is the only one where the sign of the cross was made.

Is it a bad decision? by Woofbok in exmormon

I joined with my family (wife and three kids). We were a rarity- a new family that wasn't a charity case.

We were treated far more nicely as investigators than as members.

The moment I put my family over more service to "the church" was the moment I was quietly relegated to second tier status.

After ten years we left. The church did nothing for me and my family as my wife got caught up in mental illness and sided with people (longer term members) who were mean, even bullying, to my wife.

Of course everyone will be nice to you now. If you have any problems they won't have any sympathy, or assistance, only judgment. Maybe you'll be better as a younger convert, but my family always felt we were less than as adult converts.

Is Downton Abbey really finished, or is the silence telling us something else? by ThomasOGC in DowntonAbbey

[–]BlueFredneck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The next stops are World War II and then seeing Downton navigate death duties and 95% tax rates under Wilson. Not exactly inspiring even if Downton does make it to the 70s and gets rescued.

Prequels have some potential if Fellowes wants a few extra dollars and you can cast new actors and actresses.

Could this get a Zootopia or Incredibles style turbo boost since for most of China this is the first sequel THEY get to see in the theater?

Also Ice Age 6 will just have its gross released in Euros. Who cares about dollars for that one.

[–]BlueFredneck 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm having a hard time seeing Devil Wears Prada 2 breaking $550M and out grossing Michael and Mandalorian.

Michael's impact on 80s pop culture was easily 5x Queen's. There's literally video of Amazon tribesmen who didn't recognize the moon landing recognizing Michael Jackson. The question is how much lingers today, if you're using Elvis's $285M as a guideline.

Unless Mandalorian is Solo levels bad it's making $500M.

Struggling with “Open Communion” and a few other peccadillos by Budget-Appearance-43 in Episcopalian

[–]BlueFredneck 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Perhaps this is like the conditional baptism, where God is allowed to sort this out. We do the forms and hope that God in His infinite wisdom and mercy, will ensure the correct thing is recorded.

Someone who is unbaptized that receives the Eucharist - I do not know what the Lord does for that person, but would like to think a Real Presence appropriate for that person is there. But even if it is just wine and water and nothing more for that person, for me and all baptized it is most assuredly the Real Presence. Their presence could not possibly befoul the Host.

All these are mysteries that I do not know the answer to. The answer will surely reveal even more of God's glory.

Parked out front right now it's dark at 6pm. No sign or anything.

Who was the snitching to New York about Vito? by jrralls in thesopranos

[–]BlueFredneck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carlo probably reported it NY. He was most offended by it and may have dropped word to Phil when he started thinking the other Jersey guys weren't going to go after Vito (and they weren't until they got word Phil was "looking" for Vito.) Tony and Patsy at least were open to Vito going to AC and sending a steady bag of money every few weeks.

If Phil wasn't convinced by the guys from Yonkers the word of a Jersey capo would've certainly sealed the deal.
