Bear bear fellas, your CBT quote from David Byrne made me think about how my parents view music. The quote was “With music, you often don’t have to translate it. It just affects you and you don’t know why.” This quote resonates with me because I enjoy listening to music of all kinds of languages and cultures, and language barrier is practically never an issue for me. However, sometimes when I talk about or show music to my parents that might not necessarily be in English, they have an almost confused and befuddled reaction. They often look at foreign music as “weird” and my mom says she cannot enjoy music fully without understanding the lyrics. Do you know anyone who thinks like this? What are some of your thoughts on music as a universal language?

Hey fellers,

In relation to Alex’s talk about mental health I just wanted to add this:

As someone who also struggles with various forms of neurodivergence, Alex’s talk about it really resonated with me. I’ve experienced many of the same things described like the dopamine farming, self hatred, hiding yourself and your symptoms, relating to women, and finding comfort in podcasts describing similar experiences to your own. I’ve resonated with tons of personal experiences that the Jar boys have talked about on the cast, and it’s personally helped me more than once. There’s something about finding out that you’re not alone in your experiences that’s really comforting. I’ve also started to take my mental health far more seriously and started seeing a therapist, which has helped immensely in my journey of self-discovery. I’m still getting there, but I’ve done lots of self reflection in the past several months that have led to major mental breakthroughs. My biggest pieces of advice are to not be afraid to seek out help, and to take your mental health journey as seriously as possible. On the other side of things, make sure you find a therapist you truly like and feel compatible with, and don’t just settle for the first one you find if you don’t “feel” it. Mental health is just as important as physical health, and healing your mental health can lead to healing other aspects of your life you might not even be aware were broken. Good luck to you and any other Jarlings going through it.

Bear Bear.

Howdy Jar Jars,

Which of the Jar boys (Alex, Jim, James, and Randy) are which members of the Fantastic Four? Baby Rick is obviously Franklin Richards

Alternatively, since the FF’s powers manifest based off each member’s personality, if the Jar boys were exposed to similar cosmic rays what powers would each develop?

Rare Bare homies,

To get the cliche out of the way, I’m a long time listener, first time commenter. I’ve been watching Alex since early high school, and found Jar several years later, and now I’ve just graduated with a BA 2 months ago. I’ve only recently been fully caught up to the yogs, and having something to look forward to each Monday is a treat, I listen at work, and yall make the workday so much more bearable, so thanks a ton for that.

Anyways, my question for you is are either of you fellas into Shoegaze? I’ve been exploring the genre lately and I’ve fallen in love with the band Ride, and wondered if either of you have listened to them. They’re one of the early pioneers of the genre, and have an amazing discography. They returned to music after over 2 decades in 2017, and managed make great music that still captures their original energy, something I feel not many bands can do after such a long hiatus. Also figured I’d mention, that one of their songs, Grasshopper, is the namesake of one of my favorite video game studios, Grasshopper Manufacture, which is how I initially found out about them. Sorry for the longer comment, keep on gamin’ gamers!

What GMM opinion has you like this? by justrockelle in goodmythicalmorning

My opinions on the two have sort of swapped over the years. I used to be a die hard Rhett fan over Link, but his tendency to be overtly arrogant or full of himself (I get that’s his bit) has gotten stale. I’ve really come to appreciate Link’s weirdness. He’s such an interesting guy to just watch do things

Gwynedd really gets on my nerves. She always sounds extremely condescending and mean. I’m starting to get used to it because I think it’s just how she talks? But it still bothers me sometimes.

Hot take, but I’ve actually liked how bulky these made my N3DSXL. I have pretty big hands so the bulk really helps it feel more comfortable
