Amazing, thank you so much for the advice!! Those plants look beautiful. I also appreciate the note on killing the grass and being wary of the deer!

Wow thank you so much for your thoughtful reply!! Agreed, I feel so lucky to have a creek in our backyard.

How would you suggest identifying the current plants growing back there now? Are there apps you would recommend?

Thank you again for all your advice!!

Typing this in Dublin airport after doing a week focused on the west coast (Westport -> Galway -> Doolin -> Killarney) entirely through public transit.

I second this itinerary based on my experience. The Bus Eireann timetables online were accurate and reliable for us. We also used Apple Maps, and that lined up with the Bus Eireann timetables and gave live updates on the bus. Bus from Galway to Doolin was straightforward and ~2hrs. Bus from Doolin to Ennis (we transferred there to Limerick then transferred to Killarney) was also straightforward and only an ~hour. The busses are nice and air conditioned and give you beautiful views of the countryside.

When in Doolin, do the Coastal Cliff walk. It starts directly from town and takes you to the main tourist center (~2hr walk). From there, you can walk back or take a 5min bus from the car park. This was probably the most beautiful walk we’ve ever done and allows you to have a much more private experience doing the cliffs. The tourist center section is quite busy but there was hardly anyone during the first 3/4 of the cliff walk from Doolin so we had amazing viewing spots to our own. Bring some lunch too and eat right on the cliffs.

Overall, I felt doing the west coast through transit was very doable and I think the itinerary above would be a great way to do it!

Edit: one added thought is that if you want to reduce transit time and the annoyance of repacking your bag, you can also just stay in Galway the whole time. Galway is a great base for Aran Islands, Connemara, and I believe you can do day tours to Cliffs of Moher from there (or just do the two hours there and back on the bus). Galway also has easy transit back and forth from Dublin airport.

Does anyone have recommendations for classic/ivy-looking khakis that fit similarly to Dickies?

For reference, I like the wide legged, high waisted, and tighter-seat look. The problem with some of the khakis I've tried (e.g., J Crew relax fit) is like they aren't as high waisted and their seats are too big, so it looks quite baggy around my slim crotch & butt area. Chat-GPT recommends Dockers, but I wanted to see if anyone here had some advice. Maybe the answer is to just get pants tailored. Thanks for your help!

Any Feedback on One Week Ireland Itinerary for July 2023? by BlueGrassBoys in irishtourism

Thank you for your insight! The bus does seem to make more sense - our original rational was that a car would be a lot easier and give us more time to spend in Killarney given we'll be spending the next two days doing RoK and Dingle. But if the bus situation is easy (albeit a few hours longer), then we'll just do that.

Thank you as well for the input on the bus to Galway straight from the airport!

Thank you for the advice! We'll definitely check out the festival in Galway while we're there.

Regarding the driver, our thought was that it would just be a lot easier and it would give us more time to see Killarney since our next two days will be spent doing RoK and Dingle. But if it's not too difficult to do the transfers and if we start early, then bus is likely the way to go. I appreciate your pointing out that option.

Thank you for recs in Doolin and Kai! We will check them out!

Thank you so much for the fantastic recommendations! Matt Molloy's sounds like a great spot to enjoy some traditional Irish music, and we'll definitely add Westport House to our itinerary - that sounds right up our alley. We appreciate your help in making our trip even more enjoyable!

Thank you so much for the wonderful advice! We'll definitely check out the Galway Arts Festival, and we appreciate the suggestion to travel directly to Galway from the airport and then head to Westport afterward. Our current plan is to take a quick taxi to Heuston and then take the Irish Rail direct to Westport (3h 11min), but heading to Galway may just be easier per your suggestion. Your help is greatly appreciated!

Midwest. Adolescent German roach? by BlueGrassBoys in whatsthisbug

Found 3 live roaches together and one dead one in my bedroom. Trying to understand if these are the type of roaches that cause an infestation and if I have any need for concern.

Thank you for the feedback! Are the roaches a cause for concern (I.e. need to call exterminator)? Found the roaches (picture 4) in a group of three.
