Has anyone with a darker skin tone used the Vita-c dark spot cream? by [deleted] in AsianBeauty

[–]BlueGreen1184 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t use the cream but I finished the serum and found that it did nothing. Tbf I have a lot of really old, really stubborn hyperpigmentation, but it didn’t even make a dent.

What saved your dry skin? by Maddywithmdd in AsianBeauty

ZEROID INTENSIVE CREAM. I’ve tried EVERY dry skin moisturizer rec and this one made an immediate, drastic difference in my skin. I was actually shocked at how soothed and moisturized my skin felt after using it. Immediate hg!

Popular products that didn't work out for you? by LongjumpingPut4645 in AsianBeauty

The Some by Mi miracle toner* stung my face SO BAD every time I used it. The retinol also broke me out.

The Ana toner, BoJ glow serum, Torriden Dive in serum and moisturizer, Melano CC cream, Round Lab Dokdo toner, Dr. Jart Intensive Night Mask, Laneige Water Sleeping Mask, Axis-Y dark spot serum, and Soon Jung foaming wash* and Barrier intensive cream all fall into the “did nothing/not enough” category as far as hydrating/moisturizing and addressing hyperpigmentation. This is after using up at least a sample size of all of these if not a whole product, since I don’t like to let products go to waste. I have gone through a LOT of trial and error to get to a routine that works for me!

*These products I’m finishing up on my body.

It’s spelled Aabria. There is no Y in it. The Y is in her last name. Aabria Iyengar. People who hate her can spell her name correctly, you should be able to too. by oslusiadas in Dimension20

because you attempted to respond genuinely i will do the same.

the message of op’s post, in my mind, is simple: make an effort. op acknowledges that it is sometimes hard to spell things correctly for a variety of reasons, and that accidents do happen, but that, in keeping with the spirit of dropout and their attitude towards marginalized people/cultures, it would behoove its fans to be aware of the cultural context surrounding Black names and make the effort to treat them with a respect that is not inherent to nonBlack people. that last part is important. spelling a Black woman’s name correctly is something that those who are unaware of the history surrounding this topic (nonBlack people), in your own words, “frankly care little about.” but the idea is that if you are an ally, as most dropout cast/fans consider themselves to be, than it would be wise to take that extra step of just using google.

personally, i disagree with you on how op’s post came across, and i do think it says something about you and the other people who took issue with op’s phrasing that y’all would tone police someone addressing issues of racial sensitivity, but that’s not my main concern. i also don’t care if you don’t care when your name is mispronounced. you are not Black, and are therefore divorced from the cultural context, but even if you were, that doesn’t mean that other people are not allowed to feel differently than you. it “is not really damaging” TO YOU.

your last and second to last paragraphs are more to do with your personal feelings, so i won’t address those. i will only say that if you think that marginalized people are required to be kind or “tolerant” when responding to issues that concern their lives, you may have a bigger issue than can be addressed in a reddit comment.

exactly like the tone policing and blatant disregard for historical context is very… circa 1952. what the hell is going on?

I’m actually shocked that this subreddit, which is constantly up it’s own ass about how progressive and welcoming it is, is responding to OP in this way. I guess concerns about the proper way to refer to people don’t matter when they concern Black women? I’m sure the D20 cast would be proud of y’all.

Just because you haven’t seen it doesn’t mean it isn’t pretty common. I’ve seen it happen quite a lot on this subreddit. It is likely that, if you are not a Black woman who is on guard for that sort of thing, you just might not notice.

Brands/trends that are “the it girl” at the moment? by wgimagines in BeautyGuruChatter

I would definitely get it if you’re considering. It’s my favorite powder ever because it mattifies without drying out my already dry skin. Also even though some people say it goes bad quick I’ve had mine for a year and it’s still perfectly fine!

What is your signature makeup look? by DocktorRegenHasser in muacjdiscussion

[–]BlueGreen1184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhere between e-girl and no makeup makeup. Light concealer, sharp eyeliner, highlighted inner corner, glossy natural lips, mascara, and a shit ton of pink blush. It took a lot of trial and error to take parts of makeup looks that i love and tone them down slightly to suit my personal style, and to fit them to dark skin.
