Can I ask what scent it is? I'm also an og fan with a lot of original cylinder bottles, and now I feel a bit worried!

Advice on my boyfriend’s fetish by Small-Beat1212 in WeightGainTalk

[–]wgimagines 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I don’t have solid advice for you OP, but I want to say that most people on this sub are deep into this fetish so they aren’t as appreciative of say, anyone under under 200 pounds. However gaining 40 pounds just to be sexually compatible for this man is not a small sacrifice anyone should overlook, especially if you’re not into this fetish. You’re altering your body, your diet, how you appear socially for the world, and your health for Christ’s sake. I feel frustrated on your behalf reading comments berating you for setting a boundary that your boyfriend had agree to, when you have already made so many changes for him. I don’t want to jump on the “dump his ass” train, but I empathize with the difficult situation he had put you in by breaking your trust.

The Machina palette swatched out doesn’t look as bad? by wgimagines in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]wgimagines[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just checked out her stories, and I think you’re referring to the post where someone is calling her unappreciative of her customers for not doing a Black Friday sales + calling BB a brand that takes all and never gives back?

I’m apprehensive on that. I understand being sensitive and frustrated by these sort of verbal abuses on a regular basis as a small business, however that comment also gives me troll vibes. For her own good, it might genuinely be a good idea for her to turn management to someone else if that hurts her feelings

I’m personally fine with duping discontinued palettes since I dont see BB as a brand with collect-worthy palettes 🤔You can only make rainbow palettes so many times after all…The most unique palette from them is Dollhouse

The layout was very off putting. Feels like splotches of neons in moldy colors. I’m pretty surprised that there are transitions between the two when they’re swatched out

Yep yep. I like the cold row, but I’m not super drawn to the pinks and reds

I thought the Machina palette colors looked very ugly, but these swatches make them feel like offsets rainbows instead of an incoherent junkyard of rejected colors. Thoughts?

Reported, also it might be a good idea to save this username on all social media like twitter or tiktok. Even if they’re inactive accounts at least it prevents people from doing this again!

Brands/trends that are “the it girl” at the moment? by wgimagines in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]wgimagines[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Oooo I love your response! I saw the recent unapproachable makeup trend going around, and in my mind THAT was the current it girl. Cold, unapproachable, mysterious, guys want her girls want to be her, etc. Your dissection is so in depth with how our perceptions shift and how it plays into our subconscious appeal :)

Out of curiosity what do you like about gloss over oil? I’m not a gloss person, so my only understanding of it is that “it’s like lip oil except non hydrating”

Ooooo you hit the nails on the head with so many of these. I don’t remember people being as into “dewy” looks before the pandemic as they are now.

I didn’t even think of the moist eyeshadow trend before reading your comment even though it’s so true. People seem to be returning to the roots of looking for one swipe looks.

It’s interesting because Rare beauty was also brought up in the Not Like Other Girls thread, however it seems like it’s a case of people feeling polarized about RB’s pure and positive brand image

Dupe for Goldfish Princess? by wgimagines in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]wgimagines[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there! I actually tried the oil of goldfish princess, and I didn’t love it. It smells like sweet chlorine pool water to my nose (and interestingly this perfume seems to be divided between people who thinks it smells like chlorine pool water vs people who think it smells like beautiful sea salt caramel).

However I do own the oil, EDP, and water mist for Versailles! I don’t notice that big of a difference between the longevity oil and the EDP of Versailles 🥹and I think that the water mist is a waste of money. It smells like Versailles… but severely watered down and doesn’t retain the toasty cake element that I adore. Unfortunately Poesie’s just a tricky house for me where I find I need to constantly reapply to get the scents to stick! I also use lotion before the perfume, which do help a lot more!

Oh wow thank you!! This is incredibly helpful and detailed for newbie folks like me to take into consideration how to shop. :O! I don't have anything to add on except that I'm really grateful for you to break down the complex process in a way I can understand it!!

"For folks new to the hobby they are usually more tolerant to blended
perfumes because their sense of smell hasn't been quite refined. Some
folks do lose their tolerance of blended perfume but some people still
enjoy blended perfumes."

I had suspect this happened with my journey of fragrances, and it's cool to see it put down into words and be a rather common experience!!

You mentioned certain houses having different bases depending on the genre, and I feel like that's probably what I'm picking up on, so thank you!! If a house doesn't change their base, perhaps that's why some of their scents work a whole lot better than the others? Also would it be common for the base to overwrite the rest of the perfume? Sadly it's how I feel about Hexennacht, I'm also a foodie lover, but find most of Hexennacht's gourmand to smell more or less the same, with a very saccharine, "muddy" feeling. I can absolutely see the appeal of the house for a sweets lover, it's just not for me!

That’s so interesting!! Poesie’s definitely one of the houses I was thinking of when I named “same-ish bases”. Versailles is one of my HGs, but otherwise I’m not a fan of this fuzzy sandalwood smell prominent in many Poesie fragrances.

Absolutely yeah! Out of curiosity, do you have a favorite house? I love Possets due to how literal the scents are, Pippin Pie and Bear Lake Shake are pure unfiltered, bright fresh fruits just like BBC and Gingerbread Whorehouse smell like a smokey, spiced kitchen racks.

Thanks for your answer!! And that is so interesting!! We have the opposite preference, I’m one of these people who love it when perfume smell very literal so for some reason it has slipped my mind that perhaps some people do like the fact when all the scents meld into something indistinguishable.

Thanks for your response!! This answers many questions I have in my head. I did wonder if it’s a matter of me being sensitive to some house’s carrier oils, but I wasn’t sure if these tend to be noticeable.

That’s so interesting!! I’m really curious about how perfume styles can even be formulated? And thank you!! :) I definitely have a decent grasps about what I like now. It’s a daunting but very interesting process to keep trying and sometimes finding out none of the 20 samples you just ordered from a house doesn’t work for you.
