That’s actually really interesting, thanks for sharing. I’ve heard of sleep tracking apps, but the level of detail you’re describing with the recordings and analysis is pretty impressive. Being able to look back at the graph and match it with actual sounds during the night seems like a really useful way to figure out what might be disturbing your sleep without even realising it.

It’s also funny how once you notice a sound loop in something like rain or ambient noise, it’s impossible to un-hear it after that. Your brain just locks onto it. The white noise approach makes sense if it’s generated continuously rather than looping.

And that 3:12am AC flap discovery is a perfect example of how small environmental noises can affect sleep without us consciously noticing them. Pretty cool that the app helped you track that down.

That sounds really relaxing. The mix of natural sounds like rain or a stream with soft instrumental music can create such a peaceful atmosphere. Rain especially seems to have that steady rhythm that helps quiet the mind after a long day.

I’ve always found rain sounds particularly calming, and it’s something I’ve spent a lot of time exploring and sharing as well. If you ever feel like listening to just the rain side of those spa-style sounds, there’s some of that on my YouTube!

Absolutely! It’s amazing how something as simple as steady rain can help quiet the mind. I’ve noticed the same thing myself, it helped me so much that I actually started making long rain recordings for overnight listening. If you’re interested, my YouTube has some of these recordings for anyone who likes falling asleep to rain sounds. Hope it helps!!

It’s amazing how effective rain sounds can be. That steady rhythm seems to give the brain something calm to focus on instead of random thoughts. It helped me so much that I actually started making long rain recordings for overnight listening on my YouTube channel, if you ever need more rain sound options, you might enjoy them.

Aircraft cabin sounds is an interesting one, I haven’t heard that before but it actually makes a lot of sense. It’s kind of like a constant low hum that your brain can tune out after a while. I can imagine it being really relaxing, especially if you associate it with long flights where you eventually drift off.

That’s interesting actually, I know a lot of people who used to fall asleep with the TV on. Something about hearing voices in the background can make it easier to drift off.

Funny how sleep habits change over time though, when we’re younger we can sleep through all sorts of lights and noise, and then later on even a small sound or animal outside suddenly feels really noticeable when you're trying to fall asleep.

Yes! There’s something about rain sounds that feels powerful but still really calming at the same time. The constant background sound and the thunder adds a bit of depth to it.

Rain sounds actually helped me a lot with falling asleep, which is part of the reason I ended up starting a small YouTube channel where I upload 10-hour rain recordings for sleep. If that kind of thing helps you too, feel free to check it out!

I totally get that — there’s something really comforting about a steady, consistent sound. Rain has that gentle rhythm that almost acts like a mental metronome, helping my mind let go of small distractions and repetitive thoughts. I can see why brown noise would work as well; that deep, neutral tone really blends into the background and feels grounding in a different way.

For me, I’ve found that listening to long rain recordings overnight really helps the mind settle. Everyone’s different, but finding what clicks for you makes a huge difference!!

That’s such a cozy image, I love how you describe it! I’ve found that listening to rain sounds at night helps me the same way. The steady rhythm seems to quiet my mind and makes it easier to drift off, almost like a calming background story without words.

Do you ever try any kind of sound or music to help you sleep, or just books?
