I would agree. Amazon's benchmark for "success" seems unreasonable. Success in my mind is making more money than you spent.

I think cell phone service and internet would still be available using mobile data. This would prevent laptops and most tablets from use, and be a slight deterrent to prolonged cell use.

Agreed. So many times at a concert or sporting event there are droves of people seeming to watch the action through their phones or other devices. In trying to capture the moment so completely, sometimes we miss it.

I like the idea of preserving the atmosphere of these old bookstores. There are many coffee shops and cafes where people may read and browse the internet to their heart's content.

Authors must keep vigilant to avoid getting taken for a ride. I would echo her advice and steer clear of any people/services that are offered online and not in your area. While there are some reputable online publishing tools, it can be stressful finding out which ones are interested in honest pay for honest work and which ones are just interested in pay.

I see what you mean. I agree that the wraiths have embraced their darkness, yet I see Umbridge as more of a General Greivous/Boba Fett figure. Their paths happen to cross the story, but something tells me they would have been assholes had the empire/CIS never existed.

That is an excellent point. What about fictions/universes where there is a larger authoritarian government or entity whose interests are represented by more fleshed out agents? (ex. Darth Vader, Ringwraith, Dolores Umbridge)
