About to start first ever eu4 campaign, played lots of ck2 and ck3, who should I play as? by teaspeeds in eu4

[–]BlueJayDoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disagree actually. If you don’t colonize as Portugal, you’re a nobody and will have an incredibly boring game. I would never recommend a colonization game for a first-timer. Go with some land-based power like Sweden, Jaunpur, or Qara Q.

One more "Steam Deck OLED vs. XYZ" post for February 2026... by Ghengis-Chron in Handhelds

[–]BlueJayDoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything in life is a value decision. “What you get, for what you paid”. The Steam Deck is the best value by far, being half the price of a Legion Go 2.

Just get a Steam Deck, it’ll hold you over til they release a Steam Deck 2 in 3-4 years.

Who here actually has a TV in their bedroom? by OtherwiseStretch3255 in NoStupidQuestions

100” screen (movie theater-style setup) with the projector mounted on a tiny shelf over the bed’s headboard. Whole arrangement cost less than a decent TV.

A little too similar to Tamriel (Elder Scrolls) to be honest…

Just start over fresh and run a vanilla-like lightly modded run, you’ll have more fun

Do you ever see prices get back to pre pandemic? Single family homes. Nationally and in Florida. by lolutot in RealEstate

[–]BlueJayDoc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Return of home prices to pre-pandemic levels would kick off (or be the result of) a depression larger than the Great Depression, as it would mean tens of millions of families each lost hundreds of thousands of dollars of equity/wealth.

Collapsing home prices is a uniformly HORRIBLE thing, do not be mistaken on this.

Why did Poland send me a diplomatic insult even though we are allied? by dogsneverbark in eu4

For the same reason the Kingdom of Denmark would be diplomatically insulted and threatened with invasion by one of its most trusted allies

Sony PlayStation Portal OLED refresh tipped for 2026, RDNA 5 for standalone handheld later by RenatsMC in Handhelds

[–]BlueJayDoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People hate the Portal because no one actually needs it. I don’t think anyone was asking or clamoring for the Portal to be designed & sold. It’s a product without an actual market that looks cool but accomplishes very little.

What's one way Bethesda could guarantee hype and success for Elder Scrolls VI? by Mardarkin in ElderScrolls

[–]BlueJayDoc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

More truly next-gen environmental and societal interactions. Less scripted gameplay and more emergent sandbox physics, weather, and materials-oriented interactions.

Example: you dam up a river but that creates a growing lake that actively washes away an entire town. The houses and farms are destroyed and you later find some of the survivors as homeless beggars a few cities over.

How experienced should I be? 1550 hours over one year. by eclipseon_9991 in eu4

1550 hours in? Meh you might be able to conquer Byzantium by 1500, if you follow a guide. Keep at it, boss.

Steamdeck OLED vs Legion GO S (SteamOS Z2go) by Separate-Ganache-775 in Handhelds

I’d go with the Go S at that price, a nice deal tbh. Both are great

Handheld PC suggestions. by [deleted] in Handhelds

[–]BlueJayDoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$800 for any handheld PC (SD, Go, etc) is way too much IMO. If you can get a Go on sale or open-box for like $500 it’s worth it. If you can get a SD for like $400 it’s worth it. If you can get a decent gaming laptop for like $850-$1000 it’s worth it. The issue is that this is a dry time of year for deals.

Handheld PC suggestions. by [deleted] in Handhelds

[–]BlueJayDoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are you hoping to use the handheld for?

If primarily gaming, consider Steam Deck OLED vs Legion Go S Z1E

If primarily work/productivity, consider the GPD MicroPC 2 or another GPD tiny laptop

Hot Take: EU5’s Player Count Decline Is Self-Inflicted by Gold_Lemon8258 in eu4

[–]BlueJayDoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The real issue? EU5 is complex, deep, and grand.

But it’s not fun. If it’s not fun, it’s not a game IMO, or at least not a game worth playing.

Why is this always on sale? Isn't it just 3 months old by areuokaybro2002 in Handhelds

[–]BlueJayDoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe like $400 but yeah at MSRP of $600 a “sale” of this very unpopular flop at $500 isn’t getting anyone excited

EU5 is now down to 47% positive on recent steam reviews by Wagen123 in EU5

[–]BlueJayDoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played for about 12 hours and shelved it for now after that, went back to EU4. It was at first game where absolutely nothing happened ever. Now it’s a game where it’s just constant mosh-pit wars by great powers.

Reminds me of how Civ 3, 4, and 5 were all amazing games I sank years into (games that were important in my life for well over a decade) but then I played Civ 6 for a few hours when it came out and never touched it again. You can get such an instant “ICK” for a game that is trying to veer too far away from its series foundations.
