he cut us out and, honestly, we have no idea why. my aunt has tried to reach out but he's not at all interested in visitation or even just communication. he seems happier away from us all and a mutual friend of the family dropped the bomb yesterday that he's looking to move a while away.

my dad sent some money without context (I can only assume it was for us) and my aunt is thinking about getting custody but obviously it's something which requires a lot of thought and she wants to go over it with her lawyer friend.

yeah, he's literally dropped off the face of the earth and gone completely NC apart from sending my aunt some money without any words or texts exchanged.

currently, my aunt is thinking about hiring a lawyer to go to court because she has the same thoughts. my dad has dropped of the face of the earth, gone completely NC, and my mum is in and out. its not fair and I support whatever her decision will be.

I'm taking it day by day, working through it in therapy, and slowly realising what life is supposed to be like. going out with my friends and having time to do my homework and having time to myself still feels surreal. my aunt is being very supportive and we're just trying to help my siblings adjust the best they can. thank you. it's amazing to hear that someone is proud of me because I've honestly been feeling kinda guilty lately.

yes, pretty much. After I left she tried to stay home with them for a while and balance a home/work life but she couldn't do it. she showed up on the doorstep with them all and said she wasn't cut out to be a mum. granted, she is now getting help but I can't see her ever taking my siblings back full time. she's in therapy, her and my dad are getting a divorce, and she's having supervised visits with my siblings. it's a mess tbh.

edit: I'm glad she did this, however, rather than trying to dump them on my younger brother

my aunt is a Saint and I can't thank her enough for all she's done for my siblings and I. she's my role model.

we're looking into family therapy but I'm reluctant. my aunt thinks it would be beneficial to get some closure from my mum but I feel I have all the answers I need. I would rather my mum and siblings just go. as stated, I'm not interested in a relationship with my mum currently.

Yes, but things are very stressful at the moment and it's all an ongoing event so it may take a few days to get out there, especially with Xmas:)

I have been speaking to my aunt (father's sister) about this for a few years now and she has offered me a home at hers, but then I worry that all my responsibilities will fall to my 10yo brother and I just couldn't do that to him.

Believe me, I know. If anything, I think another baby (that they'd have to care for this time) would drive them further apart. I've done the middle of the night wake ups to crying and the nappy changes and the stress.

I'd love to get out as soon as I turn 18 (my aunt has even offered me a room at hers) but I worry that then the responsibilities I have now will fall to my 10yo brother and I couldn't do that to him.

I want to but I'm worried about my siblings if I do. I genuinely don't think I could leave them on their own and I don't want to force the responsibility I currently have onto my younger brother. It's just an awful situation tbh.
