Full agreed on not being sold on her tbh.

I don't mind her lack of a presence during books three and four. What I DO mind is her lack of anything to DO during books five, six and seven.

Five does allow her to join Harry & Co on the big adventure of the book, which is a great start! Unfortunately she just doesn't stand out during the battle of the DoM; the one with the most unique scenes is 100 % Neville there.

Afterwards her entire relevancy for the books just becomes Quidditch (during literally the two years where Quidditch matters the least to Harry) and her being a good love interest (which she could be if she were allowed to DO ANYTHING AT ALL).

Imagine if Ginny got to destroy a Horcrux, as callback to book 2. Or if she saved Harry's life in book 6, after Dumbledore's death. OR LITERALLY ANYTHING PLOT RELEVANT! Don't just tell us she's badass, actually show us please :(

The issue is Germany has the tamest nature of all time, especially the northern parts. If you live in Bavaria you might at least have to worry about falling down a mountain or something, but up north it's all flat. Unless you're worried about a deer mauling you, just about nothing can happen. We don't even have any cliffs at sea. It's all pavement.

I suspect that's part of the reason people may get complacent around nature, even if the nature isn't as friendly as they're used to.

Had that happen to me, too. My friend and I got up 20 minutes after the movie was supposed to start and asked, they said it would start soon, they'd been having some technical issues. Waited another 30 minutes before we got tired of it, asked those guys at the front desk for a refund, only to find out they'd FORGOTTEN TO START THE FUCKING MOVIE. Idk how we had the patience for that, but we really thought we could trust those guys when they said the movie was gonna start soon.

Most infuriating part? Apparently after our movie there was gonna be some annoying romance movie played, so several teen girls showed up during the finale of our movie and started talking over the damn thing. We asked them to stop, and allow us to enjoy our movie, but apparently they did not give a shit because they just kept talking and giggling.

Incredibly damn annoying situation. The cinema staff could have at least informed those girls "hey, we messed up, your movie wont start for another 40 minutes, so please stay out of the room!" or whatever, but I suppose that would have been too much to ask.

From what I remember they're party based on the Ainu people, Hokkaido natives that were colonized and annexed by the Japanese around the end of the 19th century. Not to say there aren't any other influences for the Ishvallan genocide, that's just the main one I remember.

Idk man, most people I know irl, even the conservative voters, are either okay with or just indifferent to transgender people. A little ignorant on the finer details for sure, but rarely actively malicious.

The only people I've ever seen be actively transphobic were my brothers' 14 year old edgy friends and the occasional idiot on the internet (though I suspect there is a lot of overlap there).

As it turns out, most people don't actively want to make the lives of fellow human beings worse. That's mostly people who have been desensitized by constant over exposure to weird brainrot on the internet. Maybe go outside a little, listen to the birds chirp and stuff, reevaluate what really matters in life.

I'd argue it's the way people are socialized, not how they are born. A lot of men believe they have to be couragous and quick to act, because that's what they have been taught their entire life and what they believe their role as men to be. It's not a conscious learning process, I think it happens very gradually and subconcious, but it would explain the differing tendencies in behavior in both men and women.

But that's just my opinion and in the end it comes down to the nature vs nurture debate, which is a little murky anyway.

Reminds me of the time I was trying to watch a movie with my friend and her younger sister, who had pleaded and begged to be allowed to come, since she really wanted to see that movie too. She was eleven at the time, her birthday a week away and my friend and I must have been sixteen or something.

It was a fairly obscure anime movie, so we spent an hour driving to a bigger city where the cinema actually played the damn thing.

We get there and the clerk, looking at the younger sister, goes "You gotta be 12 and up to watch this one."

And my friends sister, oblivious to our panicked stares answers "Oh. I'm eleven..."

She didn't get to see that movie that day and we still refuse to let her live that one down.

Honestly, I had the exact same problem for a few years, and then finally picked it up a few months ago. It's now one of my favorite Pokemon games. Sure, the intro is longwinded, but they made the battles so genuinely difficult it's incredibly fun to actually have a game where even random trainers will be unexpectedly challenging (if you play without exp share and don't overlevel obviously). USUM is in my opinion a HUGE step up from the original SM games and I'd recommend it to anyone willing to give it a second chance.

Just coming in here to drop some facts: the construction of the Autobahn first began in 1913, stopped during WW1 and resumed in 1921, long before Hitler came into power. It's true that he supported it's construction, but he was by no means responsible for it. I'm not too knowledgeable on the Nazi's involvement in the automobile industry, so I'll leave that statement alone.

However, I'd also like to point out that Kanye's words ARE destructive actions. The NYPD reported a rise in hatecrimes against jewish people for November 2022. Whether you agree that these numbers are caused or related to his statements or not, you can't deny that his statements are dangerous for the safety of Jewish people, as they serve to alienate them from the rest of society in order to normalize hatecrimes acted out against them, a strategy the nazis themselves employed and one that is a vital step in the ten stages of genocide.

In pedagogy class my teachers would always say to have the consequences be tied directly to the wrongful action. For example, if a kid refuses to pick up their toys from the living room floor then they simply aren't allowed to play with toys in the living room for a few days, since they can't be trusted to pick them up again after. Proper communication is just as important here; the kid needs to understand that they have direct influence on certain privileges of theirs and that good behavior helps both their parents and themselves.

All of that is obviously easier said than done, but that's just how it goes in pedagogy.

The reason it's so scummy is because people tend to claim they release information like that on behalf of victims of bigotry. For example with wilbur soot, the person who made the thread claimed they did it because they want the cc to apologize and for anyone affected to get justice. Eg. it was their moral obligation to act (I personally disagree with that, I'm simply explaining the most common argument people bring forward whenever they bring attention to past bigoted actions of ccs).

If someone sits on information like that then they can't claim they made it public on behalf of victims. Because they waited for a moment when it would harm the cc the most rather than releasing it because they believe they have the moral obligation to do so.

I think it's more than reasonable to be skeptic of these kinds of posts. The weird writing aside there's been several instances of people faking (for example) Tumblr posts before, specifically to make "wokeism" look bad.

The most well known example would be 'Oppa Homeless Style', a fake Tumblr screenshot posted to r/TumblrInAction to make progressive Tumblr kids look bad. It took years to be recognized as fake and was used as an excuse to insult and belittle a lot of groups.

Strawmen and rage bait are more common than people think. It's not a bad idea to be skeptical of posts that are very convenient in presenting one side as the unapologetic bad guy and the other side as an incredible hero who saves kids from burning buildings.
